iRacing

I was comfortably leading the race in the HPD until I had a spin and got clipped. Quick repair didn't work for me at all, so I was stuck in the pits with "too much damage". I basically got screwed over for driving to the pits instead of towing.

well my week from hell continues...

every single race ive entered this week ive been taken off first lap...

i just rage quit the last 1...

I drove to the pits and it said the same. It happened right before the pits so I just drove in. If towing would have repaired my car that is annoying...

Seems like you had a fun weekend then GraveYard? :p

Not surprised to hear it's a bit messy, it's kinda tight compared to some other tracks and I'd imagine quite hard to overtake at so people are gonna be more aggressive...

Guess I don't feel so bad for missing the week now, roll on the weekend :)

aye mate it's been really bad and messy.

racing there is good and fun bar the first 2 corners in the first lap, I got took out on the first lap in every race this weekend.i also take too much of t6 so got a lot of 1x.

it's been messy for a lot of us, back markers wernt playing the game properly they were taking front runner out ding ding, I even rage quit my last race I was was so angry...

I did a couple of laps of charlotte, it's gunna be messy there I think, the road part of the circuit is tight, it's also hard to build a setup for the tack as there's a long part of the The oval on the circuit but the road section it's very twisty...

Only done it in the skippy but it might not be all that bad, because it's so easy to keep up/overtake down the oval bits maybe people can be a bit more cautious during the infield bit?

Or maybe not and it'll be horrific :D

T1 will be especially messy though, don't see that being good at all, might be a pit lane week but even with that at Charlotte it can be awkward to get past the mess.

Surely a 17 wing week, those straights are way too long for anything else...

I saw the rage quit, always good to do the odd one :p I also saw you claiming to not spend anymore on iRacing or related stuff, I don't believe it for a second :)

Think I am going to give GTR Evo a run out... feel like I am cheating on iRacing though but I love the Simbin titles.

What will I do when GTR3 hits - lol

I could never really get on with the Simbin titles, always felt completely disconnected to me, I dunno what it is about the 'papy' sims but bother GPL and iRacing have me hooked on the feel and nothing else seems to ever give that, was a shame pre-iRacing but I'm happy for now :p

I've never played any of the GTR games, but nothing I've ever played comes close to Iracing now, the more I play the more I love, I still feel some of te physics are better on RF2 tho, but Iracing on a whole is just awesome.

skill yeah the pit lane exit is really bad on charlotte, I recon the 26 rear wing is the way to go again, you would never be in the power in the road part of the track with a 17, also the last turn on to the oval is hard to get te power down even with the 26 wing plus I you go straight onto the banked bit of the oval it's easy to get wheel damage...

There are definite areas of improvement to be done in iRacing, and it's a bit annoying that it lacks weather, or even dynamic lighting changes, but as a complete sim, both the driving and the racing, it's still at the top of the pile as far as I'm concerned.

It'll be interesting to see what people come up with, Kat's 17 wing setup for Brands was very driveable really, whilst just changing a 26 setup like yours to 17 made it sketchy. But we'll see, undoubtedly I'll just pick whatever's best/quickest tomorrow and use that for the rest of the week :)

Kat's setup also showed a definite advantage even down the relatively short straights. I guess it might be that you want 26 for Q and 17 for the race (get ahead on the straights and laugh and their attempts to overtake through the infield :p)

I agree weather would be good to have and I'd like to see sim rain.

my set will be built around a 26 rear wing to start, but I don't know why a fast time is round there as the radical hasn't raced there before, but yeah a 17 wing will defo help on the massive long oval section, we will just have to see a the trend has been 26 has been fastest or on par with 17 at all races so far...

What bugs me about ISI/RF is the reliance on the community to make the game decent.

Yes, it is nice they make this giant sandbox for us all but as a total package, it is severely lacking in my opinion.

Rain would be awesome, although I have no reference for proper wet tyres on cars I use them on my race bike and the levels of grip are very impressive, and it does make the racing that little bit more interesting :D

One thing I'm not sure about in the 26 Vs 17 argument is how much, if any, extra speed can be gained via the lower wing, iirc the 26 tops out around 157/158 or so even at Mosport? For the 17 to be quicker you're gonna need 165+ really and I'm not sure whether that's possible. I won't be able to try it before tomorrow's session either but I'll try and get there a bit earlier this week (only just caught the 7:30 bit last week)

Gimpymoo, I agree, it can be fantastic as the engine is obviously good, and some of the mods are very good, but getting the right version of the right mod is just a hassle I can do without.

heres the pics of my rig as asked for, its still abit of a mess with wires and stuff, im also still playing with the monitor config as ive just changed them around abit so i only see 1 bezel in on the middle monitor...
