iRacing

I can't see myself getting a 1:04, but a 1:05 is doable, I did several 1:06.3's with >10 gallons of fuel, I just can't seem to get the pace here.

The wheel damage could well be speed as well as style/line, considering how much quicker you are overall you're likely to be hitting that banking a bit quicker.

bla you have the pace, your fast..

take the infield slower than you think, t3 and 4 you can cut loads of the corner and carry more speed, t6 come right down to 2nd and change up just before t7 to third stay tight round the apex then come out wide then just floor it all the way home...

I do T7 in 2nd, 3rd just seems like too low revs, I do shortshift on the way out though.

Anyway, did some more practice earlier and after forcing myself to just fling it into T1 a bit more I went from a 1:06.1 down to a 1:04.8 (both low fuel, 1:04.9 on full fuel though, dunno where that came from :p), So I'm a bit happier :p

Then decided to race, start 4th with only 2 people qualified, pole with a 1:03.992, second place with a 1:06.8 or something, so thought that I should get 2nd or maybe 3rd (ranked 3rd and 2nd place hadn't qualified either). Get off the line well and get around the guy starting 2nd as he got a crap start, then the guy starting 3rd (ranked 2nd) decided to go into the wall at T1 so I was in 2nd with my one of my main competitors in the pits, life was good, until I got to the oval section.

I've done easily 50 laps of practice and not once have I got wheel damage when joining the oval, until the first lap of a race  50 second repairs (and I got front tyres as well as for some odd reason I thought it was a puncture at first, so a minute+ stop :()

But, I was faster than most, fought my way up through the field, scared people off the road at T5 twice which I found hilarious, and ended up 3rd just 9.x seconds behind 2nd (oh for a 60 minute race)

For the race setup btw I dropped psi's by 1.5 front and 1 rear, felt it was a lot more consistent on full fuel and it was only in the last 5 or so laps that I felt some lack of grip :)

Tempted to do another now :p

lol your race sounded like mine...congrats tho...

yep t1 you gotta really throw it in and get close to the wall on the exit, then flat through t2...

im done racing here too much of a risk for me after the bad week i had at brands hatch last week...

Cheers, Once I'd done some rudimentary maths and realised I might get 3rd it did strike me how much alike our races would be :p

I was slowing down and into 2nd gear, now it's high rev's in 3rd really, bit of a difference. I do do a slight lift/dab of breaks into T2 though just to make sure I keep it tight.

Got plenty of SR to lose, will only do one more race if any though, I'd like a few more points tbh :p

it is a fun race i really enjoy the infield but joining the oval is a nightmare for me...

take t2 flat mate as t3 you can put a full car over the white line...

well im taking your advice from many posts ago and trying to win my division, currently im smashing the granny out of the competition...

Yeah, I think the infield being so slippery makes it that bit more fun, joining the oval was always a bit awkward but it's even more crap with the Radical.

Maybe I'll give flat a go, lack of consistency doesn't help as even with lifting I sometimes get the line slightly wrong and drift way wide.

I miss the days of easy division wins :( :p I'm in div 2, looking at a possible top 3, probably top 5 I think, a top 3 would make me happy :)

Just hope I don't get promoted to div 1 anytime soon, I think with a good season I could possibly win div 2, never gonna get close in div 1.

yeah you got the skill(lol) to win div 2 mate..

im in division 7 ATM and it is easy, im over 150 points clear now...

im guessing its auto promotion if i win???

Only if I get a good run going, current leader has an average of ~120 points, I've now got less than 110, although todays was quite poor.

I noticed a while back you had 'em beat, congrats :)

Winning doesn't affect your next division, the divisions are set at the beginning of the seasons based on irating, I believe the boundaries aren't defined as they change to try to give most people a chance of winning, although obviously that never quite works out

EDIT: Checked again and the leaders gone up, thought it was a bit low, now averaging 134.5, more than I've scored in any one week so far

yeah I should win my div now cheers...

well i should promoted as this is my first full season on Iracing and my IR is up from what it was at the start of season...

I love the way Iracing works it's brilliant stats, divisions, IR, SR world records etc... awesome...

I took the plunge and got the 3 months for 1 deal atm and i am seriously happy :D

this game is fab i have done 3 races so far

1st i came 7th
2nd got wiped out and had to retire
3rd last night i came second

this really has made buying my racing rig worth it, it's hard to get used to the strict rules though no cutting corners or off tracks all the stats are great im off to play it again !

anyone thinking of giving it a bash dont hesitate it really is a great sim

anyone else use thier partners credit card to pay for it as my screen name is hers  i have emailed support hopefully i'll be racing as me soon but at the moment im a girl lol

its is awesome, ive not played anything else since i got iracing..

support will change it for you, they changed me from club celtic to club england is seconds...

suzuka hmmmmmmmmm been doing some test laps, took me a while to tame the beast around there, it tricky to say the least but damn its fun...

I just put in a few laps, think I chose your silverstone set but putting in race fuel and taking out some psi (1 rear, 0.5 fronts iirc) with the idea of doing some long runs.

Did on scruffy flying lap before stuffing it in the wall at the hairpin, then reset and put in 4 flying laps before putting it into the wall at the hairpin :p

Anywaying, 59.011, 58.808, 58.81x and a 58.644, seemed fairly quick but no idea where the benchmark is this week. What kind of times were you doing? or expecting?

EDIT: Just found this on the forums: http://members.iracing.com/membersite/member/EventResult.do?&subsessionid=5278635&custid=54104

So I'm a bit off the pace but not bad for 4 clean laps into practice with heavy fuel, I might try a bit later with lighter fuel as I could imagine a fairly large difference here, especially in S1.

with quali fuel 57 flat was my best with the set i made, s1 is were the time is lost yeah i agree also the tight left hand hairpin...

my opt is 56.191 i cant get no were near that, its a big effort to get a 57 flat, long lap and loads of places to lose time so its always hard to get it right...

So the question is... do I renew my iRacing sub? I played for 3 months last year and loved it, but then as the F1 season finished, I went for my usual winter dabble in other sim genres, clamped down on my monthly expenses and let the subscription run out.

Very tempted to renew - I was just getting up and going in the Star Mazda last year. Anyone here partake in that particular series?

I drive in the Star Mazda series atm but I may give up with it in 2 weeks when the season ends. I prefer the HPD and driving in a multi class series :)

go for it mate, i race the radical but I do dabble with the star Mazda I haven't raced it since the end of last season and that didn't go very well as I was new to Iracing...

Have renewed! :D

I want to stick with the Star Mazda for a season or so I think. I've always been an open wheel guy, and whilst the Skippy was entertaining racing and fun to drive, it felt a bit slow after a while. It's no looker either!

I think the Mazda will amuse me for a while!
