Yeah, Donington is one i'd like to see, its local enough to go to events on the day, but its got a nice flow to it, and its always nice to see traditional race venues being added, cos they're typically much more fun than modern designer tracks.
Just had a cracking race at Brands in the Skippy. Started 4th (finished 4th) sensible start off the grid and the front two shot off, while the drivers either side of me had a cracking scrap from start to finish. Each time i'd get infront i'd do something stupid, and for some reason the car just didnt quite feel the same, but it was mostly taking corners poorly, turn 4 being one, and the 2nd to last corner being another. We were all making small little mistakes and kinda holding each other up, and although the guy who finished ahead of me did get an early opportunity to get away, as he had a 1.8sec gap after i'd slide exiting that 2nd to last corner (held it, but lost 2 places) but somehow the other driver and myself both caught him and gave me chance to get by both, before eventually screwing up. We probably could have gone for hours like that too
Did have one scare though, i'd just got ahead of them both about 3 laps to go with an undercut into the hairpin, he got a better exit on T3 and i covered for T4 which he seemed much more settled through, we went through it side by side, and just at the kink on the backstraight i see his front wheel zoom into view and im looking at the underside of his chassis as he's flicked into the air, i paniced as no sooner had that happened, than my right wheel was inside his car, i lifted and turned away, and it ended up costing me a 2nd place too. Seems nothing happened on his end, neither of us had dmg and both got 0x for it, but cos i saw it i reacted and it took me a good lap to feel confident the car wasnt bent etc.
Also hit 3.40 Class D now, so 'C' class awaits. Only taken 5wks too, expected it to take a lot longer to get to that stage. Im also getting far more comfortable in the skip, im not sure if its the fact that i know these tracks well IRL, so even though ive not done many laps around Brands GP, and far far less around Oulton (TOCA days!) but i think that has been a big benefit to familiarising myself with the car, cos the tracks arent a mystery to me.
Not sure how i'll do on Zandvoort, but now ive grown a decent understanding of the car it should help as i'll only really need to learn the track, not both!
