I quite like Mid Ohio, its got a nice rhythm to it, havent done GT3 testing so it might not be great in these, but it was fun in the Skippy.Did a few practice laps of VIR, but not keen on it at all. It looks very dated compared to other tracks in terms of graphics. Might do a race over the weekend. Mid Ohio next week, again, I'm not keen on that track either.
The last two races I have done, one at Motegi and one at WG I got taken out by numpties.
I only started Motegi on the Sunday, did a full distance offline and then online to get a feel for others around me, and started at the back of a top split race on the Monday, 22nd of 24 or thereabouts, and despite coming out of the final corner sliding into the pit wall (0x thankfully) i managed to get through and avoid other peoples mistake and finish on 0x, i put that mainly down to mental attitude going into it, not expecting good things and wanting to get through without too much loss to iR & SR, and think i finished 18/19th. WG I knew i could do well, but just pushed where i felt i could and i ended up making mistakes trying to pass someone significantly slower, but was basically blocking and door slamming.
I'll probably try and get some Mid-Ohio practice offline tonight and then jump online and see how i compare to others, maybe aim for the Thurs 9pm big split race.
Yeah, it really is ruining the game with these unexplainable issues. I definitely had it twice in a practice server for Laguna Seca WSCS on Monday. Im not certain, but i felt like as soon as i could tell it was steering very sensitively, i hit the brakes and then did a bit of a burn-out, and it seemed fine.Ha yeah VIR needs a total update hell that big tree fell down a year ago.
Personally I'm giving Iracing a rest until they sort out the cold tyre issues. I've lost 300-400 Irating points mainly due to people spinning out around me at the start in the last few weeks. Getting a little tired of it now.
I've taken to joining the grid with 10sec left, ive no idea if it has any temp impact, but if temps are active on the grid, it cant help by sitting there for 30-45sec. That said, i got both these pitting out, so...
Its a joke though, whatever is causing it.
Over the weekend I decided to do a few races, I had a couple of bad ones at Mid Ohio in the C-spec having my race ended for me, one guy after spinning out T1 decided to cross the whole track right to left to reach to pit lane and try and enter it the wrong way, I was going too fast to avoid him. After that I decided to give WSCS a try at Watkins Glen, 70min race, mix class. And damn, those HPD drivers, for the most part, are complete dicks. During the warm up not pushing that hard I was wrecked 4 times by them dive bombing or simply running into me. I never completed a warm up lap, decided to wait for the rolling start and the whole race was pretty much the same. They simply act like they have to pass you exactly where you meet, hairpin, apex, doesn't matter to them. One guy even spun me on a straight, me keeping well to one side and signalling to pass right. I honestly don't think I'll bother with the WSCS again, being a simulator you expect people to take things seriously, it reminded me of the one time I ever tried Forza online. Never again.
Nice Paint!
With WSCS you really need to spend a decent amount of time in online practice, and know the short of s^&t they'll try and pull.
I feel like ive got used to them now, but theres still times when theres little you can do about them. That said, there are times when ive treated the RUF class in rather bullish fashion, and moved my car to the middle lane for T1 and sent the car down the inside, but the main reason tends to be because there isnt great deal of difference between the FGT and RUF, mid-top speed is similar, the only benefit is probably torque, so we can get out of a corner better, but if its done too soon and you have to back out, you lose any momentum, you do it too late and you dont have the speed to run past them, so you have to be an ass in a way.
With the HPD they're faster everywhere.
In places like T1 I've tried moving across to the middle to basically send a msg to the HPD closing me down, but twice in 1 race they still threw it down the inside.
But in general, i feel that if you give them a clear message when they're far enough back to respond to that, you'll be fine. Problems tend to occur when they dont know or when you do something which they're not expecting. I still have a tendency to try and get out of their way, but if that involves taking a different line on the exit of a corner when they're right behind you, they tend to follow that line and get on the power for that line, and then you're there blocking them. The best advice i can give is to act in your best interest when they're about 1.5-2sec behind, if you want the outside line for a corner, get to it early so they have to go inside. Dont take a casual sweep cos you'll find they're already driving into that space.
My biggest issue with WSCS is that the HPD popularity dominates the grid, you can line up for a 20 car race and 10+ will be HPD. I've done 14 with 12 HPD, 1 FGT and 1 Riley.
But ive also done a race with 3 HPD, 5 Riley, 4 FGT and 4 RUF, its an odd one, but typically your lambs for the slaughter.
It also helps if you can do a week where there are plenty of good overtaking places, this week at Laguna Seca im probably going to skip, its too tight and theres only the start straight with a tricky T1 to pass cleanly, so HPD's are going to be passing in places you wont be comfortable with. Silverstone was fine, as was Road America & Spa. Maybe take a look at COTA next week? Not my favourite track by a long shot, but there are passing opportunities for them.
