Yep, first one was just getting over the curb on exit of T2. Second was the same, but on the exit of T1.

I'm just thankful I didn't ruin anyone elses' race, but I'm still annoyed at myself

Congrats on the 2000 irating btw.

I have found the tyres fall off lots faster with the Track version.

I've been putting in practice in the BMW for a league race and is it just me or is it really souless and boring to drive? Hardly any steering feedback compared to the C-Spec too.

Thanks.

Yeah, the Z4 doesn't give a lot back.

I tested all the GT3 cars apart from the Ford at Road Atlanta. I'm quickest in the Ruf, by at least a second. But the tyres start to go off after 20 minutes. Whereas the MP4 and Z4 feel like the tyres will last forever.

Maybe need a better setup for Ruf this week.

Something doesn't feel right about the Ford GT3 at the minute, the GT2 however feels solid and planted. I found the tyres on the RUF fall off really quickly when I used it in week 13 at Spa, the MP4 is the one I like the most so far. Perhaps 8 need to adjust my ffb for the gt3 cars to make them more involving.

Have you tried Setup Sync from the same guy who makes the Android app? It's pretty easy to find setups for most configurations.

I'll give that a try after work.

The setup I used for week one and two was the same. Plenty of grip from lap one with a small drop off towards the end of the race, but not as much as drivers in front of me.

The same setup at Road Atlanta and the tyres are gone after 20 minutes.

Just finished my first real multi-class race in WSCS at Spa in the CSpec. The GTC with the Solstice and Mustangs doesn't really count :)

It's nerve wrecking seeing an HPD fly up behind you from half a mile back in the braking zone. Most were very well behaved though, only once in the 45 mins was I on the receiving end of a divebomb. The worst tense lap was when an HPD came out of the pits, dawdling down the Kemmel straight in the middle of the road. I get to Les Combes just behind him when the leader and another HPD backmarker both arrived at the same time. I don't know how we made it through without incident, but somehow we did.

I started from pole and was kept pretty honest by 2nd place for the first 5 or 6 laps until the leaders came around to lap us. The gap to that point was never more than 1.5 seconds. I think he was a little unlucky with traffic and fell back after he'd lost my tow.

So all that was left to pick up the win was to keep it out of the walls, which I thankfully managed this time. I'm actually proud I managed a 0 incident 45 minute race at Spa. The +.45 SR certainly helped restore some of the damage done by Mosport last week.

And by 'damage', I mean 'total annihilation' :D

The WSCS is a lot of fun, i used to do it with the FGT, but the problem with the lower 3 classes is they're almost always heavily outnumbered, ive done 14/0/1/1 before, didnt realise i could quit, just assumed if i did i'd lose a ton of iR.

Does that mean that there were 14 HPDs and almost nothing else?

My understanding is that you can forfeit a race at any point, your iRating would be affected but your SR wouldn't be penalised for quitting.

Yeah 14 HPD, 0 Riley, Me in the FGT and someone in a RUF.

Apparently you wouldnt lose iR either, because theres nobody in your class to lose iR to, so its a neutral score, and SR would be 0 for not going off etc. I only found that out afterwards, and it was a 90min race too, at the glen.

Ah, I see, that makes sense.

So, if I join a single-class race and there are only a couple of us, the other guy leaves and I decide to quit rather than motor around on my own for half an hour, any idea how that pans out with regards IR?

Obviously SR is a simple equation of how many incidents per corner, so that wouldn't be affected at all.

Mind you, at the moment, SR is my only concern as I learn to be safe and consistent. Having a respectable license (currently B road) and feeling like I can justify my SR with clean racing is my current focus. Being competitive and concentrating on IR will come in time...!

I believe if its unofficial, then no IR is scored, only SR, so you can leave if you wish.

The requirements for official & unofficial differ from series to series, something that caught me out a while back when i decided to bail when it was at 11ppl to avoid getting a 12th and it being official, and i left it to the last minute. It warned me, but i knew it wasnt going to go official so id be safe... and then i found out that the GT3 was only a 9 (maybe 10 car minimum grid), and i'd not realised it was lower then the WSCS requirements and lost about 120 iR from it, i'd just barely got to 2600 and was back to the high 2400s almost straight away.

I've done 90min races with 4 ppl before, not particularly opposed to it especially if its early in the week, i'd welcome the race prep for something like that which has different requirements, its nice to know how the tyres go and see what others do. Later in the week, not so much.

This race was 14/2/1/7. It seems CSpec participation in most series is on a high at the moment with the World Cup and 24h Spa events.

Forgot to say before, in the race I mentioned earlier was a certain Tom Dillman - the GP2 driver. It was pretty awesome being in the same race as a real-life driver, even if he was in a different class to me. He was destroying the HPD field too. IIRC he had a 15 second lead by the first time he lapped me. Surprisingly though, it appears he was disqualified from the race for too many incidents.

Has anyone else driven with other real-life racers?

I was in a practice session the other day with an Andy Priaulx, but I doubt he was the WTTC driver.

Someone asked if it was but he disconnected. I looked him up from the results page and his profile didn't suggest he was a professional driver.

Way back in the depths of time when I started out with some Late Model ovals stuff I ran about 3 consecutive races in the same field as Dale Earnhardt Jr back when he raced a fair bit, he was a 'bit' faster than me :D :p

That is very unlucky, I'm sure he feels like a dick taking out the class leader.

I've found WSCS to be hit and miss (boom boom) don't bother at the weekends, dive bomb city.

TBF it seems a bit harsh to make a video for doing little more than making a mistake AFTER passing you. If he'd divebombed you and t-boned you, certainly. For simply being a carp driver and spinning just after passing... not so much.

IMO the HPD is completely out of place in there, the RUF, FGT and Riley can share a track quite nicely, you're not getting lapped over and over after about 10min. The only downside to dropping the HPD is that in plenty of races i suspect you might not get caught by the leader in the Riley, so all you see is your own class, slower drivers in the class above, or cars who've had an accident.

MC1 = Riley, Ford GT and RUF (C license)
MC2 = HPD and GT3 series (A license)
Create 2 classes, and i suspect it'll be a lot better in both. You wouldnt have the alien HPDs divebombing you and flying up behind you meaning you've always got to be focused on the F3 screen, so its probably a lot more fun in a suitable match of multi-classes, likewise the HPD & GT3s, less of a speed difference should mean moves are more obvious, they're not dots in the mirror and suddenly alongside you as you're turning into a corner.

I figured i'd look for the race i mentioned the other day, seems it was actually 13 HPD, 1 Riley, and me in the FGT:

Check out the iRating in there with the HPDs, 927, 850 and a whopping 433!
Who has an iRating capable of getting to 433 and thinks its reasonable to just jump in any car and race in a proper session? its a joke.

I was honestly in two minds whether or not to post the video. However the lack of an apology really riled me. Maybe I'm too petulant, I don't know.

That's part of the problem with SR governing licence progress. It's no reflection of any driving skill whatsoever. All licences can be obtained by doing TT's without any need of a minimum lap time.

It should be that once a licence is obtained you also need to maintain a certain level of IR as well as SR to keep it.

I also think you should have a separate IR for each car.

I'm not sure if iRating should be included, and if so where do you draw the line? need to be 6000+ for A class? or 2000+?

The Pro/DWC licences include iRating to some extent I believe, which makes sense, but not sure it does for us commoners...

The problem is ultimately commercial though, SR used to be a fair bit harder to both gain and maintain, and without fast-track it took a significant amount of time to progress to A-class, now you can go from Rookie to A-class in a very very short time period.
