iRacing

just a heads up guys..there is a massive bug in iracing where sometimes someone else can log into your account and vice versa..they can run races etc..and have full control over your account.

After all my weeks of "blah blah" i've just gone and pulled the trigger on an OSW from Ollie, and a steering wheel from Sam. Did I hear someone say sim racing can get expensive!?

October batch for OSW, large Mige. 9 weeks out on steering wheel from Sam.

Going for the Momo Mod 30 320. Wanting the SimInstruments display, discontinued at moment whilst they complete dev of the dash 2.0. i can wait a little longer if need be.

Would like an 8020 rig but would need to source a kit - dont have the time, tools, space. Also living in swiss does not help with easy access to materials. Spoke to JCL (just be faster) about them custom building a keyboard tray like the one you pisted earlier - they didnt seem interested, so still thinking on cockpit options.

Apologies for bumping such old posts, but I was wondering if you ever got your OSW from Ollie at Sim-Pli.city? I had a look through your posts but couldn't see any photos.

I am starting to investigate direct drive wheels since I'll have my own man cave in a few months time, and the pre-assembled kits from Ollie are very appealing.

Way to miss the inferred point. How about a link with some information to corroborate your assertion.

If I said "the moon is made of custard" would you just believe me or ask for some proof?

you asked for the source,i gave it to you..check the iracing forums.

I don't need to corroborate my info..its factual,go into the iracing forums its all there in 3-4 forum sections...its all there for you to see.

I'm not sure you can link to iracing forum posts,at least for me anyways because whenever I get an email notification it wont take me there,i have to manually navigate.

however since you insist:

FFS it's not that he doesn't necessarily believe you. Your original statement was a headline. We simply needed more details than 'OMG SECURITY PROBZ!', hence why he asked for a link to the forum where hopefully there was more useful information about the problem, what you can do to protect your account and when it would be fixed.

ffs...I gave the source, iracing themselves..im not going to hold your hand and take you right to it,go look on the forums..next time I wont bother posting, being bashed for pointing out a problem so you don't get caught out and have your account ruined, nice.

im not going to hold your hand and take you right to it

Sorry, your attitude just baffles me. You made the effort to post it here in the first place having read the thread on the iRacing forums and deemed it important, then couldn't be bothered spending a second to copy and paste the link?

iRacing engage the community in a number of ways - social media, blog articles, the news feed on the website and the member site as well as the forum. We're not psychic at the first mention of iRacing.

I've already thanked you having provided the link. What more would you like me to do? Just take a step back for a second.

From the way you made it out I thought it was a serious problem and surely would have been in the news sections but couldn't see anything so I thought you were just taking BS.

if you read my reply I already said I didn't think links to the iracing forum worked(because they don't work in email links I get)..hence no link.

this is iracing we are talking about mike..no problems ever exist in their eyes until its out in the forums.

Its extremely serious although Iracings lack of info seems to suggest they dont think so.

From at least 31/7 to 3/8 people potentially signed in and were logged into another completely random account. They had full access to the account including others full personal info and potentially any credits stored on that account bar credit / debit card info which are not kept locally to Iracing. People had random users racing under their credentials affecting the various standings / license points etc, people had others making forum posts under their name.

By all accounts this wasnt a hack, it was related to cookie handling and the cloud infrastructure they use.

So yes great question, where are the forum announcements, the website announcements , the twitter / facebook posts, email warnings etc etc and why on earth wasnt the site brought down. Because even now you'll have to dig around in the problem reporting section to find minimal staff responses.

Total lack of transparency by Iracing imo , even now most members dont realise their personal info was potentially compromised and their online racing stats screwed over ( or if youre as bad as me , potentially improved )

soooo I've finally moved out of a small 1 bedroom London flat into our own 3 bed house and I can after 2 years get out my wheel and peddles and play Iracing!!

The boss has given me full reigns over the box room where I want to get a gaming set up happening and was wondering if you guys have any solutions for a small room? I dont think it has enough room for a full sim rig but i do want a 3 monitor setup and go down the OSW path in the future.
