Iraq Campaign Medal

Last time of saying this... I wasn't a contractor!

I think there is more of a problem with semantics here. 'Contractor' in this sense doesn't necessarily mean 'self employed'.

There are various contracts for companies to provide various services to British forces or the British govt in Iraq ranging from security to IT to catering. The people employed to fulfill those contracts are often referred to 'contractors'.

If you really were not a 'contractor' in that sense then can you clarify what you were - civil servant etc...?

doing a bit of reasearch, the only medal i can find that the OP might be awarded is the Iraq medal.

The "Iraq Reconstruction Service Medal" was apparently designed for civilians (and a few military personnel) who don't qualify for the Operation Telic campaign medal.

Here are some photos of the medal I recieved

To say I'm a proud is an understatment :D:D:D

Unless I know who you were working for and what you were doing I'm not sure how I feel about this really.

I will say however that you have my respect for spending time in a war zone.

Congrats mate and to anyone who has been out there. I wish more people could get the respect they deserve for doing difficult jobs in dangerous situations. Regardless if you were one of the soldiers on the front line/ in the base or just a civi helping with the installation of services lots was needed and all risked their lives to more or much lesser degrees.

I do not like to see people being attacked for things they have done. He openly admitted he was not involved with the evil EDS profiteering that has been undertaken, So DROP IT. Open another thread and moan about them there.

Again congrats.

Well done to you but to be fair it's the soldiers out there there deserve the majority of the credit for putting their lives on the line day in day out.

Still it's not something I'll find myself doing anytime soon to good on ya for going out there at least!
