Is 8GB of Vram enough for the 3070

Here is the thing, Nvidia brand, drivers, raytracing performance is regarded as way ahead of AMD/RADEON, so much so that people will happily take Nvidia with less vram over AMD. That's why they can get away with it.

Another classic Nvidia VRAM swindle...12GB 3080ti...

nearly 2 grand for a card with as much vram as a 6700xt costing £750 :d

In a way you have to admire their total lack of shame, and griftability..

Oh dear, someone still trying to justify paying over double the cost for an extra 14gb vram and 10-15% extra perf, if that..... @TNA grab the popcorn!

Sell the 3090 now @gpuerrilla before it becomes worthless when the 10GB 4070 stumps all over it for £500 :p :D Be smart and do a @TNA ;)

Exactly. Ray tracing and DLSS alone is worth the extra. There are far more games (and big hitter games too) where amd flagship cards are struggling than nvidia mid tier ampere cards because of the lack of rt grunt and ai upscaling tech in said games, see the nvidia finewine video where some guy compares his 3070 to his 6900xt in rt/dlss only titles. Sadly people see a game using more vram than their previous one and automatically assume that said game "needs" said amount of vram despite being proven over and over again, it makes very little difference to perf. I know for a fact, many people here would choose a 3070 with a measly 8gb vram over a 2080ti 11gb vram any day of the week ;)

Drivers wise, meh, couldn't care less, both do what I need and without issues.

Love how people still use overinflated scalper prices to make comparisons too..... If people choose to pay scalpers prices then they're the fools.

Given how easy it is to get a FE, no one should be overpaying for nvidia gpus, sadly with amd, you don't get that choice :o

3070 for its MSRP is a very good card still but you have to accept the fact that it lacks the grunt AND vram for high res. such as 3440x1440, not to mention 4k but I don't think anyone with some sense and knowledge would be expecting to be able to just whack settings to max and get an easy 90+ at those res. with new/modern games.

Has to be worth it mate! But if I lack the VRAM gonna chew on that lemon some more and flail at anything in my rage lol. Remember no games use lots of VRAM, no issues, nothing.

Still waiting on all said games with supposed issues to be listed but nada.....

Only one we had a good argument for was FC 6 but then the developers came along and said it was an issue and it's fixed now so back to the drawing board we go

@TNA but we have godfallllllllllllllllllllllllllll

Oh wait, that was debunked too :D

What? 2080ti destroys the 3070, only shills would choose the 3070 over it

You realise you can get FE cards for cheaper than 750 that wipe that 6700XT right?
and while most of the 3080tis prices are an absolute rip off i wouldnt really compare one with a 6700XT merely based on their VRAM lol

Not trying to argue which one is better but you need to compare the graphics score, not the overall score.
And the benchmarks are not the whole story. A card like 2080 TI was used a lot more for extreme overclocking (LN2 or whatever ) than the 3070.
Funny thing that if you look at these benchmarks, you will think the 2080Ti advantage is mainly the =< 1440p performance and RT, and not the 4k as you may expect from having more VRAM. The difference in Timespy Extreme is much lower than the difference in Timespy normal.
