Is Amazon delivery getting worse?

the 1pm thing was free with prime until not too long ago. Now you pay. Amazon seem to be turning into Aliexpress/Temu lately, hard to find brand name items at the top of the search list anymore, just the usual chinese junk.

To be honest, I don't like shopping on Amazon anymore for the most part. As you rightly point out, for most things you search for you end up with a seemingly infinite sea of exactly the same chinese product but all called a different name and priced at loads of different prices. It's a pretty hateful experience to be honest.

.

I find that companies really dont value consumers like they used to.

Also to add, even though customer service is absolutely abysmal these days, every company is ridiculously desperate to get you to review everything and review everyone you have spoken to.

It's like the whole retail/service economy has got drunk on feedback/reviews and there seems to be far more effort put into all the systems that drive all that, than into actually making their customer service a little more helpful than utterly useless.

Honestly, everything is starting to feel an little dystopian and nonsensical these days and I fear it is only going to get worse and worse as more things are driven and created by AI and algorithms.

I ordered 3 small things the other week and they sent it in 3 separate deliveries. Maybe they were in different warehouses but still, seems wasteful.

I think their tracking is definitely not as great as it used to be which is annoying - but then so are most delivery companies, it's frustrating. How hard is it for companies to say you are delivery xx of yy and recalculate the estimated delivery time in realtime based on the current average time per delivery. And ideally the tracking page could show the driver's rough route (I'm sure a delivery company used to do this) so you can better figure out when they'll be reaching you too as I often have drivers effectively drive past me, do another bunch of deliveries, then come back in my direction, drive past me, then finally I'm up. It makes planning a pain.

I echo this sentiment.

Years ago a friend of mine used to lead customer support (or something) at Amazon. He said back then the only KPI they measured for support issues was "did you fix the customers problem". They didn't care how long it took etc and handed out refunds left, right and centre without questioning. I suspect nowadays it's gone the same as most companies which is how quick can they get rid of you :(.

Had Amazon Prime delivery mess up for the 1st time the other day, they delivered my parcel to the wrong street, thankfully the person they delivered it to brought it around the next day. Seems like the drivers nowadays don't knock on the door half the time, they ring the bell and drive off. Never used to be like that.

I've had loads of issues and now cancelled my prime.
My delivery address is my work address. Even though it's a business address, and Amazon have the opening hours on file, they still attempted to deliver at stupid times like 9pm.

I love it, always have. It's great to order something at 1am and have it in my hands same day.

As someone who pays for next day delivery for most things (I need those M&S socks asap, damnit), it's also fantastic value.

It's not perfect, I've had empty lockers, damaged goods, 'sorry no one was in' (the building with 200+ people in it), etc. But this is less than 1-2% of deliveries and most experiences have been positive.

Had no major issues - yes the changing time during the day to residential addresses it annoying but 9 times out of 10 I just get things sent to an Amazon locker and most are delivered there before midday.

For the price of Prime I would say it is very good value - but I find myself ordering anything and everything on Amazon as I know it will pretty much arrive next day with no issues and the price is cheaper than other retailers.

Add a line to your work address on Amazon saying 'Deliver between x and y only'. I've done that for work deliveries and since then they always deliver in business hours.

Seems to have got a lot worse here in sunny Manchester, my last purchase was to be delivered last Saturday between 7pm - 10pm which they cancelled at about 8:30pm and delivered the package Sunday evening.

Not experienced any issues, though most of my items are sent to a locker. The [new] drivers do sometimes get mixed up with addresses in my area but they're generally good.

I notice Amazon have also added Hermes to their list of delivery companies (!?)
wut? are you buying fufilled by amazon stuff delivered by amazon? cos a lot of the site is just third party sellers using delivery companies

What I can say I have noticed is that Amazon seem to hate using boxes now. They send so much stuff out in those paper bags that I'd really prefer it came in boxes, cause the packaging inside those bags ends up eating **** quite often.

Bumping this thread as I have had this happen several times this year already, and it seems to happen more and more with Amazon.
  • Search for item
  • Item shows as available says "Delivery by Thursday with free delivery, or fastest available by tomorrow"
  • Order item. Checkout summary page states delivery Thursday as expected.
  • Order confirmation page states "We don't have a delivery date for this item but we will email you when we do"
  • Then nothing happens, probably forever for all I know
Anyone else experience this? It's very frustrating as a consumer, either a product is available or it isn't. The item is from the Bosch store so it's not like some 2 bit cottage industry supplier on the marketplace.

Yes. It is getting worse even in the US. I believe they are doing what they did at Uber, and doing a cost drive to the bottom.

Amazon is just full of Chinese junk now, rather than western branded goods (that has actual quality control on them), so I'm using Amazon less and less.

It's maybe dipped from the peak in terms of accuracy of estimates and the fact they (perhaps understandably) just seem to have a bunch of men in white vans dumping items on the doorstep rather than handing to a person. Luckily I live in a reasonably low-crime area (touch wood).

However, it's better than it was say 5-10 years ago, same day delivery wasn't a common thing then, even Sunday delivery I don't remember being a free service, no proper order tracking etc.
