Is it all a bit boring?

Agreed but maybe possibly I am starting to realise that I am not overly special and that I won't be finding the answer to life. Pass the baton on and all that instead...

"You are not special. You're not a beautiful and unique snow flake. You're the same decaying organic matter as everything else. We're all part of the same compost heap. We're all singing, all dancing crap of the world."

"We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very ****** off."

If you like that quote/film, read his book called Haunted. Very good.

If you've got enough money to do anything you like and you are still finding life boring and pointless then I'd say your issue is a lack of imagination.

Take up golf, mega time sink if you end up enjoying it and the ever desire to get your handicap lower (I'm one of the converted, love it), obviously if you don't like it it's a non starter.

Take up golf (beaten to it!); you'll never be as good as you want to be and you'll keep trying because of the occasional perfect shot.

Join a volunteer organisation and work with less fortunate people

Collect litter in scenic areas or even non-scenic ones

Find a romantic partner

Spooky literally just posted this

If I were in the OP's position, I'd not be on a forum posting about it. Get out of the house and see some friends. Enjoy life for goodness sake!

I think you need to get to the bottom of the purpose bit, whether you have a burning desire to leave a legacy behind one day. That maybe having children eventually if in a strong relationship but it could also be working on a solution to a problem depending what your work is, this could be a building if you were an architect or a developer might design some open source software. If it's not the right time for children then perhaps volunteer work part time, charity shops, NHS transport, give computer training at a library, social work, Citizens Advice, local council involvement, write a book, start a Youtube channel giving training on a topic you're knowledgeable of, grow your own veggies, home improvements, baking. Get a dog perhaps and a camper van, travel all over. If you can sing or act then maybe one of those, it depends what your definition of purpose is, it can also of course just be enjoying what life has to offer. Ultimately for most people I guess it's their job, children and any charity work.

What about charity work? I'm not talking about throwing money at a problem but investing your time into a worthy cause.

Meet new people, broaden your horizons, make a difference etc. Gives you a purpose beyond self attainment, which you seem to have got sorted.
