Is my living room too dark?

With a light floor and walls, and a gaping big patio door, the one thing your room cannot be described as is 'too dark'! Looks fine to me - nothing wrong with brown. Is it just the picture or are the sofas brown too - they look the exact same colour as the coffee table so they look fine together. If that's the case I cant understand why she likes the sofas and hates the table?? Personally I can't think of anything more hideous than a grey coffee table - ewww.

Serious note - black metal/glass tv stand yet brown wood coffee table. Throw in that metal chair in the corner along with the wooden framed sofas, the room is crying out for some consistency.

I'd have a rug to keep it 'home-ly', though not necessarily that thing you currently have.

You've managed to get away with the usual wifey no-no's of having big speakers and a hi-fi rack, so maybe just let her have her way with this?

Do you even have a choice? :p

Cushions I'd suggest, break up the sofa colour, maybe get them the same colour as your walls, would be the cheaper alternative to break the room up a bit

I like the table, I don't think it makes it too dark.

Also, how light do you want it to be, it's a living room, it's where you're gonna spend long winter evenings, won't make any difference. :)

Looks fine. Then again, I've never bought a single item of furniture, and am fine with multicoloured 1ft tall plastic stools round a coffee table to eat from, so I'm not really mr interior design :p
