Is Saudi Football a threat to the European leagues?

I think some people are missing that point. “They” being Footballers with extreme wealth.

They don’t live normal lives over here.
As above, footballers will probably be fine because if anything happens to one of them it will cause a PR ****storm but brutality in Saudi isn't limited to the poor. Not that long ago your mate MBS locked up hundreds of the super wealthy (including members of the Royal Family) and tortured them until they signed over chunks of their wealth to the state. Although he did do this in a 5 star hotel, not a regular prison.

I wouldn't either but then again I've not just been offered £100m to move there for a few years either. I'm regularly nice to some of my customers that I can't stand because they give me money so who knows what I'd do for £100m.

Not to excuse it, but British history has plenty of dodgy stuff also. Even currently the royal house paid how much hush money for a crime the sex offender didn't commit?

Again, I'm not condoning anything.

And without condoning what our Royals done, there's clearly different levels to dodgyness. An out of court settlement being reached to prevent civil action (which if found guilty wouldn't have resulted in just compensation anyway) is a long way from the type of thing I detailed re the Abu Dhabi Sheikh.

The Bengal Famine wasn't that long ago, up to 3 million people died.

I'm not sure how far back you want to go but those that made decisions related to that are no longer around or in power today. Are you going to attack the current German government for what Hitler did too?

The people (MBS specifically) responsible for public executions, torturing, murdering journalists and bombing hundreds of thousands of civilians in Yemen are in power today in Saudi however.

I'm not attacking I'm just pointing out that there aren't all that many differences in reality, we're just further down the line of progression. We ain't saints either. Again, not that this condones anything.

David Kelly is a more recent example. Someone who 'committed suicide' when he didn't tow the party line.

Aren't the SAS in court currently for killing civilians?

We're not saints. The current UK government is a disgrace but they're not remotely comparable to the Saudi's and pointing to things that happened before you, me or any of the government was born won't change that.

And I've no idea regarding the SAS but I'm not sure how that changes things. There are terrible people in this country that commit crimes.

If you paid me £100m for a few years work there are few things I wouldn't do. My morals would be out that window quicker than a Russian dissenter.
Heck I’ll be on the first plane over but then again, I work a 9-5, don’t earn millions, don’t go to work with pride armbands or laces. Any emails I receive about pronouns goes into the junk email.

This thread seems to have exploded because of Hendo? He hasn’t signed yet. Probably won’t but who knows.

Although I’m sure Liverpool management are licking their lips at the thought of getting a decent transfer fee for him and the other grandad. Heck if he does sign he can always spin the “I was forced out of the club” to save face.

Curious if anyone has any plans to watch it? I don’t think I’d watch it even if it was on free to air.

The Saudi league? God no. I only watch a fraction of the PL games and if I had all the time in the world I would watch more PL, La Liga, Bundasliga and Serie A before I came remotely close to watching the Saudi league. They would have to buy hundreds of top players and be running for years before anyone really gives a ****.
