Is the end of Battery EVs coming?

There is no requirement for hatched markings. That's just to stop people blocking that area.

Odd how high voltage warnings don't appear around charging points though. Everything else have to have them. I guess that will get questioned after the first person gets fried and someone sued.

I agree the infrastructure isn't where it needed to be for the 2030 ban on new pure ICE cars and am not sure many people would argue against that.

but we are in 2024 (were in 2023 when the government renagued). at that point there were 7 years remaining (still 6 now) to pull fingers out of collective asses and crack on.
even then hybrid cars would still have been sold for another 5 years and no one was going to ban ICE cars. those here saying they want to run their car for 20 years which is better than buying a new EV ....,... that would have been cool as well. anyone buying a car at end of 2029 with a 20year running time will have been good until 2050.
a good chunk of us here won't even be driving in 2050!
but forgetting all that what really cheeses me off isn't actually people unwilling to get an EV yet

it is the utter utter bunk which is spewed out daily by the main stream press.

not balanced journalism highlighting the evidence advantages but pointing out where things are not good enough yet and pushing what needs to be done but stuff so wide of the mark it isn't really even bias any more it's pretty much lies.
then that gets parroted around as fact.
ie there are no rare earth metals in car batteries.

there is cobalt in *some* car batteries but anyone wanting to not contribute to that there are plenty of options to not have cobalt in your car battery.

and they conveniently forget that cobalt in batteries is recyclable. loads of cobalt is used in running ICE cars that is conveniently not reported on and that ISNT.
I think if the media reported fairly then a lot of these issues on social media may actually resolve themselves (ok who am I kidding when people still believe the COVID vaccine was some government conspiracy..... social media crap won't go anywhere, and that is more of a scourge than the daily telegraph or express)
The press are political, and certain ones support the current government who have decided that having an anti environment agenda is a vote winner with a certain demographic.

Yes constant live is quite different to a charger that has a handshake protocol.

Up until it isn't.

Although the most likely causes of accidents involving electric chargers and high voltage are situations where warning signs are going to be somewhat irrelevant.

EV cannot go away soon enough they constantly break roads...that alone is reason enough to betamax the tech but its so NON eco friendly not sure how it ever got this far to begin with LOL watch the massive u turn around new ICE in the next few years or the car industry will collapse long before 2035 as they will not be making anything the public wants to buy!

There's far more ICE cars on the road that cause more damage than the relative few ev's

As opposed to those featherweight suvs, vans, wagons, lorries, busses...

And Ice vehicles are being portrayed as more eco friendly?
If you feel that strongly about battery tech try running your car without one.

What are you smoking
Less than 1% of the vehicles on the roads are currently EV’s, yet they are responsible for breaking the roads :D

Non eco friendly - sure, compared to walking/riding everywhere !

Also, go check out which fuel type has growing new car sales and which has declining sales, over the last 3 years.

whilst I guess it is feasible people could get fried by a faulty charge point.... I have yet to see a "news" article about it even in the daily telegraph about someone getting baconated by one. if even they are not peddling that fud it must be a non issue (how many people have been killed by faulty chargepoints so far and yet there have been many millions of charging session so far over the last 12 years.

OTOH how many people have been burned by petrol whilst fueling ICE engines over the years? again not huge numbers and miniscule risk either way but you can't talk hypothetical risks of one without the other (well not unless you want everyone to know you* have an agenda)

*not the literal you

i remember my dad wrestling the crank handle on his old Woolsey. I imagine even that had a battery but I spose maybe it would run without one (tho not certain)
