Is the MX5 the new Mondeo?

i've ignored your attempts to try and get a confrontation with me so far, quit being pedantic for the sake of causing an issue

Sorry but all I've seen in this thread is people defending themselves from YOU trying to get a confrontation.

So the cars you like are not recommended very often. Get over it. They probably suck, if they didnt suck they'd probably get recommended more often.

The reason why every 'What roadster' thread ends in MX5 is because everything that isn't an MX5 is either more expensive to run or not as good a car. It's that simple.

In it for the badge? ;)

I'd have an MX-5 all day long, the Z3 is pants in comparison.

build quality and perception more than anything, as I already said there is a limit to how stupid I'll make myself look just to enjoy a spirited driving car.

I doubt the Z3 is leagues apart from the five on any level but for me it's a more appealing package and doesnt look like cheap, cuddly and ultimately gay

What the hell? Because I made the lemming comment? Clearly not, i'm not interested in confrontion its a valid point also mentioned by Firestarter and is totally on topic. Only people that have gotten their backs up on my comment are the usual motors "crew" members who dont like anything out of the ordinary being mentioned or discussed without all out war being caused

And I dont need to get over anything thanks

a mini is a great drivers car, similarly I would never desire to own one

there is a point where I would question just how good a car has to be before I am prepared to forgoe my dignity just to enjoy it

Haha 'forgoe your dignity' I didn't realise you were someone special! :p

Horses for courses indeed, I'm not trying to convince anyone otherwise :)

You came into the thread to accuse half the forum of being lemmings. Thats at least as confrontation as you accuse others of being.

Rubbish. This 'crew' thing is a ridiculous myth perpetuated by people like yourselves - comically far more often than any of the issues you complain about it. People who have a similar opinion are not some sort of 'crew'. I can think of numerous people who you think are some sort of 'crew' who actually disagree on more things than they agree.

Don't get me started on Firestars cringeworthy obsession with slipping in the fact he flies First Class into every other post he makes in GD for example ;)

Be more secure with your sexuality, it doesn't matter what everyone else things, some people are really quite shallow and for them all that matters is what car you drive and how much money you flash around, i'd rather leave them to it personally.

That one was started by you my friend, with your 'i bet he's only done it once comment'.

take Freefaller for example, a hulk of a man, sitting in an mx5.

reminds me of this

Sorry but a Z3 is every bit as gay as an MX5, if not more so. :) :p Nothing says I love man meat more than that long phalic bonnet.

Not to provoke a reaction, more in the hope that people see it and stop doing it as its irritating. Also to widen the choice a little, not just on an MX5 but other marques. Like the CTR and Clio RS arent the only hot hatches that exist, the Mondeo isnt the only saloon, etc

Hi, the Mondeo isn't sold as a saloon anymore because it didn't sell...

see I can see the appeal, but I'd buy a caterham if a budget weekend toy was an essential accessory, or a z3 maybe if I had to camp it up a bit as seems to be the growing trend.

The words "budget" and "Caterham" don't apply to everyone though unless you're looking at an ancient knackered example :p

And don't try and hide your love for all things flouncy. Gaijin was in denial at first. He soon learnt.

He doesn't have an MX5....

He did...

I'm as camp as a row of pink tents,

fortunately this hasn't affected my car choices :p

I did - a nicely turbocharger hair dryer

I do miss it - though I did feel a little bit shoehorned in it :p Thanks for the gorilla analogy mon frere! ;)

However, whilst the image wasn't great for a lot of people, it was fantastic in the summer, it was great fun down country roads, and with the hair dryer attachement it made it even more of a hoot to drive - it was the power the chasis needed IMO.

It didn't bother me that people thought it was a bit girly, I just made up for it by training harder at the gym! :D Though getting out of it was a little bit of an effort...
