ISIL, ISIS, Daesh discussion thread.

I believe the west targets so called isis or syrian forces regardless of whether civilian casualties will ensue.

Wasn't their a report recently going around reported that under the trump administration there has been more civilian deaths than during the whole obama period
 the two options were "yes" and "no". You couldn't answer the simple question!

are you serious now? is life so black and white, yes and no for you?

Do you believe the forum would lead to better discussion if people could only reply with yes or no?
please only reply yes or no
Because any opinion you hold is deemed invalid by the ocuk council based on your actions in this thread.

No.

I will expand. I believe the forum would lead to better discussion if people answered the questions presented to them, rather than prattling on whichever tangent they wish. After all, discussion is a two way transaction. What's the point in us pretending to partake in a discussion when in fact you are just going to ignore any of my questions and post something else? You might as well just write a load of stuff down, in a word document and just keep it to yourself, because that is all you are really doing, talking to yourself.

you asked if i believe the west target civilians.

I started my answer with " I believe the west target civilians"

If you can't interpret that as a yes, you should consult with your GP.

if you don't want to know why i believe they do or don't then why ask the bloody question, unless you were trying to bait me in to some response and failed

You missed my point, so leave that conversation there.

Another simple yes/no question (you struggled to answer my last): do you believe the west target civilians?

The answer you provided did not answer the question I presented. Go lie down, I think you're agitated and upset.

You didn't. Read above. You are getting things muddled.

Talk about 2+2=5

sorry didn't realise I was doing a questionnaire.

never seen such ridiculous childish behaviour from someone on a forum before and reading GD for many years... well.. you take the biscuit and smash it.

robocod the king of debates.

if you can't handle only yes or no don't bother replying to him :D

BBC have reported the French military stated an Israeli jet has been shot down while attacking Iranian forces in Syria, the police has been retrieved safe.

****?
I was of the belief that Iranian forces were fighting against Isis. Are the Israeli forces having their own party or are they part of a joint allied effort?
Seems an odd combo of names and events, and will no doubt fuel instability further in the region.

From what's been uncovered so far it seems the events occurred as so:

  • Israel claim an Iranian reconnaissance drone being used in Syria strayed into their airspace, it was then shot down by an IAF helicopter. No word if this happened in Israeli territory or Israeli occupied Syrian territory.
  • Israel responded to the alleged incursion into their airspace by bombing an Iranian base in Syria that was being used in the fight against ISIS and rebel extremists.
  • Syrian air defenses shot down one of the F-16s that took part before it could make it's escape.

Obviously this is an extremely dangerous escalation of tensions in the area, especially considering the only reason the Israeli plane made it to it's target in the first place is because the Syrian air defenses have been ignoring coalition/Turkish/Israeli planes violating their airspace, hopefully Israel haven't gone and done something really really stupid here.

Syrian air defenses have been ignoring coalition/Turkish/Israeli planes violating their airspace

I'm not sure on that - the Israeli incursion about 6 months ago supposedly defeated the Syrian air defences.

Syria has had I think a total of 4 more S-400 installations since then though I wonder if they were involved here.

Aaaaand... here it is, the moment we've all been waiting for:

'Russia Is Taking Over Syria’s Oil And Gas.'

Russia has been keen on increasing its foothold in Iraqi Kurdistan (Rosneft, Gazprom Neft), tapping into Lebanon’s offshore gas (NOVATEK, and having a bigger say in Eastern Mediterranean affairs in general. For that, taking over Syria’s oil and gas sector might be a very powerful, non-military, tool.

Putin finally reveals his true colours, and likely his main reason for entering Syria.

You mean it wasn't all about supporting Assad, opposing the big bad West and being all round jolly good chaps? Well bugger me!!

Putin_Syria_Stability.jpg

You mean Syria is a proxy war between East, West and a few other parties for influence and power in the region?

Well I never!.
Crazy isn't it?

Surely our resident self-deprecating, Pro-Russia forum members won't condone what is clearly colonial tendencies and empire building by the Russians? After all, it would make them hypocrites wouldn't it? Especially since they seemed to believe Russia deployed there just to beat the naughty Jihadists, Right?

Russia's parliament approved the use of military to fight terrorism, they didn't limit it to ISIS, hence also targeting Al-Qaeda positions. Russia see's all the terrorists as enemies not just the ones fighting their current enemy.
......(et al)

They’ll probably turn over a new leaf when the pro “west” forum members do. :p

Realistically no one is there for the good of the Syrian people. They’re just stuck in the middle unfortunately.

I acknowledge your sentiment. However, I've never been ignorant of alterior motives from either "side" and never professed that the west have motives otherwise. If I wanted to take a moral high ground then I'd be a hypocritical idiot to do so whilst I'm ever living it up in a resource rich, oil fuelled life style. At least I truthfully acknowledge that matter, rather than live in denial of what is a realistic account of the world. If I wanted to play the good guy card I would have to give up anything tech related, stop driving a car, move into a cave and live off the land. I acknowledge that about my life, people on their high horse won't.

There's also the small thing about Iran trying to drag Israel into it by arming Hezbollah and Hamas with god knows how many missiles and other weaponry then setting them up just across the border, close enough to actually strike Israel. Then there's Russia is trying it's damnedest to get Turkey and the US going at each other. Not to mention last week's battalion strength attack on US forces by Russian mercenaries (The Wagner group, who have very close ties to Putin) that apparently led to many dead Russians rotting into the sand - figures are are anywhere between 100 and 500 dead.

It truly is a marvelous maelstrom of ****.
