My understanding is that pressure from Israel upon Egypt prevents a fully open and unfettered flow of trade, for obvious security purposes.

So they need to live in a 'controlled area' for 20 years, being good little animals, until they're allowed trade ?

Yes. You do realise you're defending Hamas right? If half of Scotland were pro independence, firing rockets into England on a weekly basis, you wouldn't be saying keep the border open.

@Koalaboy said that Gaza is effectively a open prison. Your response was it has border with Egypt, which is disingenuous as it's a closed border. Going on to justify why it's a closed border is irrelevant

I have, at no point, defended the actions of Hamas. You seem to be conflating the support for freedom and independence for the people of Palestine and being free of Israeli tyranny, with acts of violence.

For the record, as it seems to need to be stated, I have equal disdain for Hamas and Israel (the power), along with equal compassion for any Palestinians and Jews that do not wish ill upon the other.

EDIT: Also, borders do not stop rockets, and Scotland is not surrounded by the British Navy and its citizens prevented from leaving (who knows what Cruella has planned though).

So you agree that the border should be closed between Israel/Gaza for security purposes? That trade between Gaza and Egypt is a better solution?

Too late. Have reported you to the SIS (MI6) as a Hamas sympathiser. They are sending round an SAS officer who has a reputation for being extremely unbiased. He has no political opinion and will carefully consider your case, then shoot you, cus he doesn't give a ****. :cry:

It you know anyone from Palestine, then you will know the males are groomed for fighting, and handed a gun from a very young age. They don't get to be kids, they are indoctrinated.

Russia should steal all of Ukraines land, buid a wall around iev so they can control them and then tell the world.

but israel is proof we are allowed to do this and if they try and fight back they are terrorists!!!!

like those terrorists in ww2 death camps who dared to try and fight back
 
we are rather small minded, all of the news/social media is about flags being waved or not, what word the BBC uses and why or why not certain twitter celebrities have or haven't said anything about anything

its all very insular about something that as far as I can see has been pretty horrific

I don't see this ever being resolved peacefully, amicably, not in my life time. This conflict for the last thousand years is the epitome of a never ending vicious cycle. Act with violence, expect retaliation.

I've met a few men who grew up there and that wasn't the case at all, including one who still works for the organisation I'm in.

Sounds a lot like the guff you hear about all the young male immigrants coming to our country being Albanian drug dealers.

Best not to tar their entire male population with the same brush. The conflict is incredibly nuanced, one of the most complex in recent history.
