It didnt take them long - Fans fighting.

This is why Football sucks, why would anyone beat someone else up over a little ball?

It's nothing to do with a little ball.
Football Hooliganism has never been about football, it is just a vehicle where these thugs can get together.
In fact in the 70s/80s a lot of Hooligans never went to watch a match because they were too busy outside somewhere.

Banning Russia will do nothing these people are not football lovers they care nothing about football.

It could to some extent, no more matches would take place in Russia and Russians would have no reason to travel in mass to other countries. So even if a few 100 travelled looking for a fight they would not be able to hide behind the 1000s of real fans. But as we know there's almost certainly too much corrupt money involved for anything to happen to them either from UEFA or FIFA.

Violence now between Ukraine and Germany.

It's like the nations that are known for having football violence issues are turning out to have football violence issues. Who'd have thought? It's a shame that the French authorities couldn't possibly have had this information available to them.

Indeed, none of this should surprise anyone that watches European footy. It seems like every game hosted in certain countries in the European competitions have major issues with violence/racism.

Germans and Ukrainian 'fans' have been fighting now.

There's a video about of what looks like a few hundred Russian guys tearing through an outdoor bar / restaurant area just destroying it. 1 English 'fan' gets hit with a chair and gets kicked by 10 or so Russians, then people just walking over him.

Certainly there to enjoy the football...

Question when was the last time English fans acted how some people are thinking they are now (not saying some are not)? I cant remember anything like this at the last few events or in the champions/Europa league for years now?

Compare that to how other countries fans have acted I would say we have largely stamped it out within our fanbase.

Euro 96 and France 98. The fact you needed money for everything else kinda of got rid of the chaos but the ease of travel to France has made it easy for the scum to get in on it too. Had a hotel booked for the final and was going to go but doubt it now.

That's what I thought, I was trying to think of anything that had happened in the 2000s+. And again we as a country reacted to how a section of fans behaved during those tournaments to try and stamp it out.

I thought there were a few minor scuffles during the 2006 World Cup? I seem to remember the news channels going to live coverage before one of the games, but nothing really happened. Presumably because the policing was better and they got it under control very quickly.

Maybe that's why I asked, I cant remember anything like the same sort of scale we are seeing now from English fans. I have no doubt that we have some bad fans still just nothing in the size and violence of certain other countries now.

Guess I just find it frustrating as a footy fan that a good number of people in this country still hold the view that every footy fan acts like the thugs in the 70s,80s and seeing scenes like this even if its not started by English fans do not help matters.

Its all somewhat sapped the enjoyment out of it for me to be honest. Rather than it being an enjoyable event it feels more like watching a prelude to a disaster.
