Italian Grand Prix 2010, Monza Circuit - Race 14/19

It's a glorious day here at Monza. Warm and dry. Massa is flying at the moment

Just been told Hugh Grant is on our table tomorrow. I hope he isn't expecting me to talk to him as I can't stand him!

Spotted Fabio Capello in the Ferrari garage on the TV.

So Vettel finished up as No.1. No real surprise there.

Alonso is not far off Vettel in 2nd, while Massa is in 3rd.

I think Massa ahead of Hamilton is a surprise.

I fully expect RBR to be the class of the field this weekend, providing it remains dry. Though I do feel that Alonso might be able to do something special here.

I'll stick with my earlier prediction:

Qualifying: RBR on pole (as normal).
Race: Alonso, the 2 RBR cars and Hamilton to make up the top 4

If it rains, then anything can happen.

My belief is that RBR are still pinning their hopes on Vettel and will delay for as long as possible, before they start give Webber preferential treatment for his title charge.

RBR's management won't like it if Webber finishes ahead of Vettel this year, as Vettel is their protoge and no doubt in terms of marketing their team, they want to push Vettel as their future champion. If Webber beats him this year, in the same car, it will make any claims of Vettel being a future world champion appear empty, as he was beaten by an "average" driver...and so what hope will he have against Hamilton/Alonso in 2011/2012?

Tifosi have really taken Alonso to their hearts...

Well yes, he's a shining wit like just like they are. ;)

I think the Italians like to see passion and a driver give their all in pursuit of the win.

They loved Mansell and they love the passion (the moaning and complaining), which Alonso is doing, in order to gain the upper hand over his rivals (and team-mate).

Kimi was the complete opposite, so I don't think he went down too well with the Ferrari (Italian) fans.

McLaren really seemed to lose their advantage on the options, with both the high and low downforce set ups - wonder if it's a case of sandbagging (possibly running the engine on a lower setting) and just collecting the comparison data (first few hard tyre runs were a bit slower than the later ones, so possibly set as a comparison, or possibly just a case of track conditions improving) or if the setup is only optimal for the more stable hard tyre.

Just been told Hugh Grant is on our table tomorrow. I hope he isn't expecting me to talk to him as I can't stand him!

You do realise after Spa you have a standard to live up to!
I'm expecting Hugh Grant, holding some bread with a "Hi OCUK" sign! :D

So - what are the odds SV crashes into Lewis or FA tomorrow - surely he just HAS to take out each of the other drivers in the championship before the end of the season :D

Are you aware that Hamiltons fastest time wasn't set on new tyres? I don't think things will become clear until the end of FP3 today.

Hamilton will continue to use the low doanfoce package and Button will be running the higher downforce package with the f-duct.

Iiiiinteresting.
