Italian Grand Prix 2011, Monza Circuit - Race 13/19

lol, I missed that :(

Of course, lots of people here would rather make out that Button is THAT much better than Hamilton

And the Hamilton lovers will always say how much better he is...facts are today he was owned by Button. I never said it was an epic overtake, but Hamilton was very cautious today and it made him look silly when he lost out to Button who proceeded to take Schumacher almost straight away and made it stick. Hamilton just needs to learn sometimes...something which this season he appears to not be doing at all. His interview at the end was pretty ironic with his "I've been told to watch what I say" attitude after opening his big gob and having a go at the stewards outburst earlier in the season...

Owned? A whole two places and 7-8 seconds difference.

Some people around here need to get some perspective before jumping on the love/hate bandwaggon because it is deemed "cool".

Hami is entertaining to watch, but I don't see why people get so emotional about either side of the argument.

I just went on the betting websites to see if I could make some money on putting Vettle down as the WDC winner.

Odds are simply unreal lol.

Didnt a betting site pay out on Vettel winning the WDC back in monaco? It is beyond tiresome now I wonder what, if anything the FIA will do to try and mix this up a little. How can Vettel keep managing to bolt off the line so fast, wtf are the other drivers doing, admiring the rear or the RBR it seem :/

The same overtake that forced ham onto the grass allowing button to pass him and getting the drive on schumi, epic is epic.

Hamilton looks like he could quit at any time...which (harshly perhaps) really made me laugh! He's been so neutered recently that JB appears more comfortable and is driving better. He really showed Hamilton how to pass Schumacher today, and I bet that's what has ****ed off Ham so much, and saying he was No.1 in team must hurt...

Hamilton needs a championship winning car to get the best out of him, the current car just forces him to over-drive and make mistakes and he's not interested in fighting with Button over 3rd place in the championship. Button isn't a fast enough driver to be McLaren's number one driver, he might be leading Lewis in the championship but he is very much their number two driver.

I think the best thing for F1 atm would be Hamilton going to RBR to be Vettel's team mate tbh but I doubt that would ever happen as RBR very much want Vettel as their number one.

Yes. By keeping his tyres fresh by going so slowly for god know how many laps whilst Hamilton and Schumacher had a vaguely interesting battle, then getting a better drive off of a corner leading onto a long, straight peice of tarmac aided by DRS. It was an epic overtake. One of the all time greats IMO .

So on today's performance, who is the better driver of the three? Who was the only one on the podium?

Grand Prix racing is as much about the mental and strategic side of things as it is the out and out skill and flair behind the wheel. Look at Alain Prost. Rarely did he excite, rarely did you see him wringing the neck out of a car, but 4 World Championships and 51 victories suggest he had a fair idea of what he was doing.

Then he should quit, or resign himself to being the second string driver of the two.

2 places, qualified behind him, overtook him and Schuey and opened up a 15 secs lead at one point and won the McLaren race comfortably. Hamilton post race attitude said as much, he was soundly beaten on the day. Those are the facts...

and he's also behind JB in the drivers championship....I'll remind all those hamilton lovers of how they were saying he'd blow JB away...again...

Never a truer word spoken! +1

and I doubt you'll get a come back reply from that one ;)

He didn't look silly. He said before he wanted to finish the race, which he did, scoring points. If anything he does seem to have learnt something.

The battle with Schumacher was hard fought, they'd both taken a lot out of each other's tyres. Button had done the smart thing and stayed out of trouble, biding his time and preserving some performance. That's why it was so easy for him to pass. Button has and always will be the thinking man's driver, which is what makes McLaren so good to support.

What would you have had him say at the end? If he had come out and complained about the Schumacher manoeuvres he would have been criticised. If he had not come out he would have been criticised. He comes out and maintains the peace, gets criticised.

I enjoyed the race today. Vettel's performance was that of a champion. Alonso did what he does. JB thought his way through. Hamilton finished.

Oh rubbish.

He passed him on a straight. Whilst Michael was on shagged tyres. His move was either luck or thanks to setup, but because Button has mad overtaking skills.

This was the same epic Button that was what? 2.5 Secs off of the battle for a heap of laps and couldn't catch up? lol.

LOL it never ceases to amaze me how shortsighted some people are when it comes to racing. It's not about who posts the fastest lap. The last time I checked on the rules it's all about who gets to the chequered flag first.

Lewis far too often doesn't think about the race as a whole and works in stints instead, pushing the car far too much too quickly which is why we often here him having to "conserve fuel" or hear him radio'ing in about how his tyres are degrading so quickly.

Oh and btw I think Jenson did get the fastest lap, and came second. But still. The point I make stands.

I personally don't see it.

He's a great driver, no doubt, but I'm not seeing him as this amazing WDC winning driver as he's billed to be ironically usually by the same people who knock Lewis.

Its like him being billed as some sort of rain master because he had one good race at Canada.

So he didn't have one good race on his 200th GP at Hungary in wet conditions as well? Was that a "bad" race or something? :)
