Italian Grand Prix 2015, Monza - Race 12/19

In there a while, most likely.

Rosberg's in a funny position. On one hand, he would love both cars to be DSQ to avoid the 25 point deficit he just gave away, but on the other hand he has to fight for the interest of the team.

It would also put Vettel seven points closer to him though.

I assume the team pushed him in the hope that if they get a 25 penalty it wouldn't matter to the result. If you can ignore one of the most likely punishments by doing something then why wouldn't you do it. The sheer amount of data that is involved in F1 these days means that there is no covering up these things. Trying to do so would just incur a much larger penalty so I would be stunned if they were trying to hoodwink anyone.

If there was a mistake on Mercedes part it will be just that, a mistake and they will take their penalty. They wouldn't intentionally do something like this to gain absolutely no performance increase and hope that they are not caught.

"Hmm, we could win this race easily without cheating or we could try and gain a teeny tiny advantage and risk disqualification"

edit: Its nice to see Vettel defending Hamilton

"Martin Wilson: Symonds being inconsistent calling for Hamilton DSQ, Williams ran mismatched tyres & no DSQ"

Says it all really

Hear Hear Vettel

He was, quite rightly and politely, explaining that it's not really fair to keep asking the drivers about these kinds of things. After a bit of a laugh and joke with Pinkham, including the line about sticking the microphone elsewhere, she immediately asks him another question about it

Its ok, Lewis is going to crack under questioning eventually and admit to everything.
