Italian Grand Prix 2015, Monza - Race 12/19

I don't understand A) why you would have a pirelli representative there if they can easily tamper with it when hes not there. B) Why Mercedes would do this when they clearly have the beating of all the other teams C) Their two drivers are way out ahead in the drivers and constructors championship.

If what Merc say is true and they have telemetry proving the tyres are within spec the whole race then I don't so how the FIA can dish out a penalty just because their single measurement said one tyre was 0.3psi under.

Regardless of any penalties, for the FIA to check pressures on the grid then do nothing about it until after the race has finished is totally farcical. If they were to DQ Lewis, they're basically saying they knew his car was illegal before the race even started but they let him drive the whole race, win it and do the podium ceremony, only to DQ him later.

I don't know what they could do during the race? They could have black flagged both Merc's I guess for being under the limits but that would probably be a bad idea.

Thats always been an fia issue. Even if you don't decide at least put under investigation and get Mercedes to stewards during the race.

So DSQ is the standard penalty.

I agree that the FIA shouldn't have let the cars go if it is a safety issue.

Well no, there's no set presence it hasn't happened before. It's also not in the normal reg technical or sporting regs, it's in a technical directive letter.

So it depends of they believe the cars telemetry.
Then it's upto stewards what they do.

If they team were told at 15:04 exactly, that was only 14 minutes before the race ended. Total race time was 1:18:00.688

FIA efficiency. :D

Indeed!

OMG SO UNSAFE - but we will let you run the whole race like it anyway and only bring it up at the end....

If it is truly a safety problem, should they not have dealt with it then and there?
