Italian Grand Prix 2015, Monza - Race 12/19

no penalty

big teams getting there way in F1 again

exact same thing occurred in GP2 and teams were DQ'd

In one way I'm glad I didn't want a ferrari win by default...but the FIA aren't doing themselves any favours by not giving any sort of penalty.

Yeah, F1 needs more races decided in a stewards room 3 hours after the Race...

If this was a genuine issue the FIA should and could have acted on it before the Race even started. I expect the lack of a penalty is actually more about them having to avoid looking incompetent.

Pirelli set the pressures and FIA chap measured them. I expect Mercedes have already asked to see the calibration certificates for both pressure gauges used.

This is no different to barca flounting the laws regarding tapping up players and signing players when they are supposedly banned from doing so

If this wasd force india/lotus or a similarteam they would have been DQ'd guarentee it

Totally different race series, each with their own rules. Why should what happened in one have any bearing on the other?

Is massive over-simplification to suit your own opinions a hobby of yours?

That's not going to happen. They still have to show at all points during the race weekend they are above the minimum from telemetry.

Which is what Wolff said they could prove all along so i don't know why people on here think they have "got away" with anything.

I doubt that it was the exact same thing or the exact same ruleset. They are almost always harsh on rule breaks when they happen.

From The FIA Stewards of the Meeting
To The Team Manager
Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team

Having heard from the Technical Delegate, the Team Representatives and the Pirelli Tyre Team engineer, the Stewards have determined that the pressure in the tyres concerned were at the minimum start pressure recommended by Pirelli when they were fitted to the car. In making this determination regarding the pressures, the Stewards noted that the tyre warming blankets had been disconnected from their power source, as is normal procedure, and the tyres were significantly below the maximum permitted tyre blanket temperatures from other cars measured on the grid. Further, the Stewards are satisfied that the team followed the currently specified procedure, supervised by the Tyre Manufacturer, for the safe operation of the tyres.

Therefore the Stewards decide to take no further action.

Nevertheless, the Stewards recommend that the Tyre Manufacturer and the FIA hold further meetings to provide clear guidance to the teams on measurement protocols.
So after all that, Mercedes were not at fault. Pirelli and the FIA were.

Controversy aside, what a boring race.

This sums it up, Sky stayed on air a further 2.5 hours to cover deflategate which was more than the race and pre-race coverage...

The fact that Lewis had the largest gap up front since 1998 and schumacher shows how utterly dominant merc are. It's depressing really, it wasn't even this bad when red bull were winning.

Lol, reading the FIA report, it looks like they measured the pressure when they were disconnected from the warmers and we'll below operating temperature or the temperature the blankets get them!

Even I know a cold tyre has a lower pressure than a hot one! FIA incompetence it was then!

Reads that way too me also, so they inflate the tyres with the Pirelli guy to correct pressure when heated to the correct opperating temp.

They then check that again when the cars been sitting on the grid and 1 tyre is 0.3psi below. They then decide to not bother telling anyone this info till mid race.

During which the tyre had been run back up to temp and Mercs sensors showed all psi correct.

And we have fools in here crying for a DQ..
