It's funny how (fuel shortages)

Once you let the cat out of the bag and mention "panic buying", you can't put it back in. People tend to switch off and go in to survival mode e.g. "must fill up just incase they run out ahmagawd"

It's like telling a toddler "don't run next to the swimming pool" all they're going to hear is "run".

I unknowingly avoided the mess when I went out on a bike last night to fill up, at about 1am (not hoonage, I promise) and wondered why the Tesco one was coned off, so pootled slowly over to Morrisons, and filled up there blissfully unaware of any potential panic buying issues. I need fuel in another one too, so I was planning on doing the same this evening. I assume it will be the fine by then.

I have to drive 150 miles today…so filled to the brim last night, lucky! Now I just need to be gentle on the pedal so I have enough to make it back lol

On her way home from work yesterday, Mrs. Feek noticed her fuel light was on so she went to the garage. They had no petrol, only diesel.

She didn't mention this last night, just said this morning "I'm going to walk to work" and explained why. Since the start of the pandemic, I've said time and time again that she should fill her car up when it gets to half a tank but she still has that stupid mentality of letting it get nearly empty and then putting ten or fifteen quids worth in.

I suggested that we put a couple of fuel cans in the car, I'd go and fill up with diesel at the local garage, then go and get her a can of petrol so she could go and fill up. By this time, the local garage had no derv either.

It was five garages later that we found one which had any fuel whatsoever and it was queuing out of the forecourt. I filled my car up and put a can in the boot for her. Went home, she went back and filled up.

On the way home, the news on the radio: "The government have said there is no problem with fuel supplies".

I don't think there were even that many forign tanker drivers. There has always been a bit of a shortage afaik.

The issue now is idiots panic buying and creating the problem themselves. Like they did with toilet paper. These people need culling.
