It's funny how (fuel shortages)

The fuel station which I filled up yesterday empty.

Driven past 5 fuel stations (or entrances to supermarkets) in 23 miles and 1 was open.

Going on holiday next week. We’ll get there but won’t have enough fuel to get home again. Hopefully this won’t be quite so bad in a week or so when I actually need to fill back up again.

Come and holiday in the North. We have fuel. I hear the Lake District is nice. ;)

We've got a trip to Alton Towers & Legoland booked for next week but seriously thinking of cancelling. Anyone in the local area able to advise if it's still chaos?

I'm localish and though I've not fueled up for a few weeks everyone seems to not be having any major issues (in Stoke and staffs).

Seems to be fine this far up north, no issues fueling up Telford/Tamworth or anywhere in between since the middle of the week.

The supply will be the same as it was last month, it's just not possible to supply every station every day after people have bought all they can.

Nope, we have 2 that have had no fuel at all this week and it is pushing people to the ones that do get deliveries, mainly supermarkets it seems.

Queued up for fuel thw other day most people where filling thier tanks for less time than it took to fill mine on the bike it holds 7 liters.

So most must have just been topping off a tiny bit

Will certainly help but No chance of getting 8 years with a reasonable charge in them.
Feel for these people in a few years when they go to get new batteries and see the price. Heard it half the price of a new car....... and way more than petrol would have costed.

Agreed, i'm certainly looking forward to every EV manufacturer going bankrupt after having to replace all those batteries under their 8 year warranty, after all, look what happens to a petrol or diesel engine when it hits 100k!

It's going to be absolute carnage I tell you!

Tankers hold 30-36k litres of fuel. If everyone fills up with £30 fuel at 138.9p a litre - just above 21.5 litres. So a tanker fills about 1500 vehicles. Not everyone will be filling with £30 as motorbikes don’t have large tanks.

Yes its stablilising all right, its stablising into no fuel available anywhere in the SE you idiot.

Agreed, he’s an utter moron. All stations around here closed, when they do open they empty again in a few hours. I’m properly lifting and coasting now, as a lot of people seem to be. I’ll try to stretch this tank out as much as possible, but by the end of the week I’ll be jumping on a station if I see one open.

After decades of there seemingly only being London and the SE that make up the UK now you guys can know what it feels like

are the tankers not delivering as much as usual or are the more densely populated areas hoovering up fuel far quicker than usual?

at this point I wouldn't like to say! but would be interesting to compare the amount of fuel sold in the past week compared to any other

Can't speak more widely but around where I live they've had the tankers and amounts as per usual schedule - but people have been emptying the fuel stations in 2-2.5 hours or so. One of my colleagues was talking to the staff in the fuel station near work and they only missed one delivery and that was because the main road was closed overnight due to a hit and run incident.

They also said to him the reason they only have 2 pumps working isn't due to rationing fuel per customer, though they did that for a bit, but because all but 2 of the pumps were taken out of action by people during the rush causing damage to the hoses because people were just taking the first pump available even if their vehicle didn't fit, getting friends to queue with them or positioning themselves to let friends jump the queue i.e. come in the exit to park in-front or beside them, then either filling their friends car as well or containers in their friends car, etc. etc. apparently the police weren't interested (I doubt they have the resources to run security for every fuel station in town anyhow) and the staff got too much abuse to try and enforce it.

It has been crazy around here.

Guildford dry as a bone.

I have a delivery from the NW on Wednesday. 115kg glass window. I’m expecting it to be cancelled at the last minute!

Still no queues whatsoever here. Can drive into any petrol station (namely Asda, Tesco, Morrisons and Shell) and go straight to the pump as you normally would. Shell one I passed an hour ago had one car filling up and it must have a dozen pumps. There is one exception, the BP one I pass, has been closed since Tuesday/Wednesday.

It all depends how the cells are looked after.

In this weeks Motorcycle News there was a brief article on some new developments by Mahle, they were suggesting 100,000 cycles and very rapid charge. If one cycle is a charge/discharge then they would easily outlive the rest of the vehicle.
