Being kept out by that bloody great 6' fence!
I am inclined to agree, peoples' common reaction to getting stuck is too floor it, cleary that rarely works.
Some winter driving techniques need to be made a more prominent part of the driving test, aswell as a simple understanding of basic physics would help.

neither of which could make any progress up a miniscule incline (no more than 1:50). They were just sitting there thinking that putting their foot to the floor would work and merrily sliding from side to side.
Yeah saw many idiots like this today. Mind you I did see one of them parked on its roof.
Must say I was very impressed by a HGV driver that I saw today, thought he had broken down, over took him and noticed he was crawling at around 10cm a second up an incline. Very impressive but in hindsight a little dangerous as if he had lost it, he would have taken out the trail of cars behind him.
Take advice, don't drive unless it's really necessary. If you do, SLOW ! DON'T spin your wheel
Plenty of snow fell in the S Wales valleys last night, even though my road is a bus route no gritters came out till 1pm in the afternoon, and I had to make a journey into town which is usually only just under 10 mins, and took 30 mins to get back home up on the hills by me, as people were just sliding and spinning all over the road.
I was greatful for the traction control on my mondeo, as I know I have never needed traction contol in the past on any of my orions I had, but my last Mk1 mondeo was a pain in the arse on the snow, anything more than 1 1/2 inches of snow and the wheels would spin and struggle on a very slight in gradient.
Also had some idiot in front of me going down the flat to the hill who was on the phone, did not know I was behind him and going slow, put his foot down, slow down and started snaking his pugeot all over the road to slide the back end a little, which turned into a sideways slide and making brake unnecessarily to avoid hitting him (good job I kept a really good distance of him due to him being a idiot and I was aware of him)
Got an dentist appointment 10am tomorrow morning and looks like I will need a pair of skis on the wheels as the road is frozen slushy snow and no gritter. Great fun.

Forgot to add that I slid down a slip road heading straight into a roundabout. Flicked the hazard lights on. pumped the brakes several times, turned the wheel gently and saved it.
Keep a cool head and just be gentle. Don't know why but I do love driving in the snow and on ice BUT !.....
REMEMBER that you can quite easily be shunted from behind
Working from home today, everyone in the office left at 2:30 yesterday leaving me and a guy that lives close by as the only people in the office.. I wouldn't have minded but as a first day in the office it's hard to get a grip on things with people vanishing!

A bit more snow here in Aberdeen last night.
Roads were an absolute nightmare! Good to see that no gritters had been out at all. Main roads were a joke!
Surprising amount of people made it to work today, I'm hoping for an afternoon downfall so we can all leave!

roads to the south of aberdeen aren't bad at all, just need to be a bit careful but as soon as I hit Aberdeen the roads were disgraceful and to top it all off it's snowing again right now

I would stay at home mate, basing my opinion purely on my drive from City Centre to Bridge of Don... Just don't.
Took over an hour (normally 15 minutes).
There's a bit too many hilled roads near my flat, don't think I'll be parking near there tonight.
