It's too hot :(

Just come back from my 7 year olds Sports Day. They cut it down from 2.5hours to 1hour.

Blazing hot here in Surrey now. A lot of the mums were moaning that an hour wasn't long enough. When I mentioned that the Army doesn't let soldiers train above 26C they stopped moaning.

So... on deployment to hot places you stop training?

Jungle training?

How do you practice for hot weather then.

No idea but they don't train in the UK past 26C. I don't make the rules, I just get the emails. Not sure if it is Army wide or just Phase 1 training.

For the rest of the week I am working from home where I have no aircon or fans.

Car is parked at the office waiting for a windscreen replacement so I can't even go out and buy something to keep me cool.

Sitting in my skiddies typing on forums ftw.

There's internet outside of the forums, get on Amazon and have a fan delivered!?

I've just seen quite a few older people wearing coats and jackets in Tesco's and around the car park, on the hottest day of the year !?!?!

I love the hot weather now.

In my younger days I'd complain when it get hot, but I'm not older and fatter and I really like summer.

I love the feeling of the sun on my face when sunbathing (with protection), it feels so cleansing, if that makes any sense.

People with poor circulation feel extremes more. People on beta blockers struggle as their heart can't speed up to deal with heat exchange efficiently enough. No one with poor circulation should be wearing anything but T-shirt and shorts today.

ok, 5th night where I've gotten almost zero sleep thanks to the heat.

Seriously - spec me an air conditioner. Tried to rent one and spent the better half of this morning getting quotes from 8 companies in excess of £100 per week, some as high as £200 per week. Absurd when you can buy one for less

Need something hassle free, just works and preferably very quiet so can be used while trying to sleep :p

oh and a big bonus if it looks sleek, modern or understated (in other words not a big white plastic box)

Why don't you buy one then? You can get a really good, quiet one for less than £300.

I found an old chap selling one locally on ebay, offered him £50 and he accepted, best £50 I've ever spent, especially with days like today.
