It's too hot :(

My mum got me a duvet cover with "cooling" technology (passive - not electric, etc.) as a birthday present - kind of expensive but surprisingly it works - my room is kind of stuffy but I'm practically going into hypothermia under the covers. Downside it kind of shrink wraps you to the bed after awhile (using it without the duvet).
Which quilt cover did you get? I'm very keen to get a cooler nights sleep.

Trying to make a evaporative cooler with a stand fan, clothes horse and wet towels.

Seems to work.

I have melted, I'm a puddle typing this btw.

Although I have drunk a lot of strawberry Frijj and eaten many magnum ice creams. White choc of course!

Sudden cold breeze blew across my nipples, here in Kent!

No. Fireworks here (well I'm in Padstow waiting for a 4 hour shift) just fog, the BBC weather is just so pathetic, they must literally look out of window and update in real time.
Anyway got lawn cut, and board in car just incase there's anything worth surfing after work (doub iit before tommorow)

I know they cost money, but I’ve got 2 portable air conditioners we drag out a few days a year that are still working. I actually bought two 15 years ago, both still work well today, although I did swap one (12000btu with twin pipes) with a 9000btu single pipe one to help a mate out (the 900btu one wouldnt overcome severe heat in a loft conversion bedroom, but the 12000 btu ones did easily).

I paid £329 each all that time ago and they are much more expensive now (£349). I can’t believe how they still work since they spend most of their time in the shed or garage, but they do! I did strip the covers and clean all the years of fluff covering the condenser/heat exchanger rads this year which made a difference.

The larger unit took our main bedroom from 31 to 21 in two hours..

yes it’s noisy, like a fan on full speed, but everyone in the house prefers that to sweating to death....

I’ve got two split air conditioners that are 12 years old sat in the garage never installed (cheap offer in a Spanish supermarket that we brought back with us) the idea being I’d replace the portable ones when they died, but they never did..

It's been 29c in the bedroom all night even with windows open. Can't open them too much or the cat tries to get out.

Agreed, ever since they binned off the MET office, the only reason I watch the BBC weather now is for Carol Kirkwood and her ample bosom :)

I just went to the bathroom and I could feel the heat coming off the landing window curtains that are directly in the sun from ~6 feet away and it is only 7am.

I know we have only had a few days of heat, but I seem to be not handling it well at all right now.

Sitting here with sweat dripping down with no top on, when I woke up, sweat had gone through the towel, the sheet and a thicker covering over the mattress, absolutely drenched. That was with sleeping without a cover over me as well.
