12p an hour, not exactly bank breaking. I think I'll carry on paying for the electricity and be cool.
If someone said pay me a pound and I'll keep you cool all day I bet you would.![]()
Obv not cheap to install, but running costs aren't too bad.
Using about 1kw draw to maintain temps at these levels, don't need it on all the time or year round, just when it's the most beneficial time to use it.
Portable AC wasn't much lower usage but it's less efficient and couldn't cool whole house down.
The install cost makes it far far higher than 12p per hour though.
Mine's rated 2.6kw which is about as much as kettle! Obviously not running constantly it drops in and out to maintain even temperature but still I wouldn't want that running 24/7
Split A/C isn't as expensive as people seem to think it is. I paid £450 and fitted it my self for a 12k BTU unit. Even if it only lasts 5 years it's virtually nothing in the grand scheme of owning a house. It'll probably outlast me living in the house before we move + potentially add value to the property.

I'm in bed. As have been for over a week.
I'm. Just happy I have a portable 9000btu AC unit.
Keeps the room around 20 21c
It's been between 36-42c at work today. Supposed to be 3c warmer tomorrow outside. I might die.
