It's too hot :(

How is everyone gonna deal with the heat next week? Im contemplating living underground for a few days.
Looked into hotels with air con, all booked so rip.
Staying inside, shutting everything (new build quite well sealed).
Could use the car air-con if needed.
Drinking plenty of water.
Stocked up on ice lollies.
Freeze packs / peas etc.
Brain will be disabled, so no work or whatever will occur.

bought a portable AC in anticipation of that 37 weather. 30 was bad enough so I pulled the trigger.
Installed with the hose fitting perfectly out the cat flap.

Damn the comments didn't lie, the thing is noisy af. But seems to cool well and will get battle tested next week.
I bought one as well in anticipation for next week, should be with me tomorrow or Saturday.

How much louder is it compared to say a typical fan on max speed? I'm hoping it can't be heard through the walls...

Well, 37°C on monday, and me being the moron I am, didn't check the weather forecast before agreeing to help someone in their garden and workshop with painting and assembling parts for their R2D2.

At least the paint and glue will dry quickly.... :(

Great day to paint! Will dry in no time!

It appears that some more recent model runs have increased the maximum temperature on Monday or Tuesday to top 39℃-40℃ - however its still four to five days out.

Also some places will be breezy on Tuesday and the humidity is said to be higher in the west (I think its mostly a dry and very hot airmass). Scorchio!

Surely they’ll close stuff for a couple of days. Madness for schools to stay in when there’s so few days left, at least for Monday/Tuesday. Our infrastructure just can’t cope, even with just vaguely extreme weather.

You wish, there was a piece on BBC news just now a kid came into school in shorts intead of uniform trousers and got disciplined severely for it. I remember '76 and sitting in a classroom in full uniform and the thermometer on the wall saying 32c everyone was complaining but rules is rules. Even the teacher.

Even in the 90s expectation was blazer/full uniform at my school whatever the weather - there was a point people just rebelled en mass and eventually they'd give up though.
