It's too hot :(

I've got a new fan coming but it won't be enough, just to tie me over. Been looking at those portable air con units (do they all have a hose out the window? ) What's everyone doing regarding these? I know it won't be used a great deal and they aren't the cheapest but I'm suffering with a water heater and PC nearby...

I haven't the foggiest when it comes to air con units.

Yes they all have a hose, that's how they extract the hot air out the room. You can get window kits that help seal the window while it's open with the pipe out of it.

Some units have 2 hoses, which are much better but also more expensive and harder to find.

Portable AC is a massive help for certain.

I did look on Amazon at one with a window kit and it looked easy enough to install. I dont mind a bit of noise either.

Ideally not more than £250 or so, might be cutting it a bit thin but I'm sure there's something decent enough if anyone can recommend I'll get it ordered ASAP. Will be in the bedroom though as mum said she didn't want one.

am I the only one who is thinking please get the weather wrong Sun-Tues?

Lost count in the number of days promised snow, dream of school being closed. Wake up to not a single bit of snow.

If the weather forecasts for snow are usually wrong, should apply to the opposite weather.

At the moment it’s wrong the wrong way, as in they are underestimating it and the temp keeps going up each day. Who knows though, a couple of years ago when we were due to break the record I remember it suddenly and unexpectedly clouded over in the afternoon.

Snow is probably more difficult to forecast.

I'm pretty confident you've missed most of the deals on the portable units now. You ideally want 9000BTU or higher, and probably looking more towards £300 now at least.

The way it is building from the continent there isn't much room for it to be dramatically different in terms of heat though the levels of humidity, etc. and whether there is a breeze, etc. could change how it feels.

The Arpege model, which I've found generally accurate, is pretty close to the GFS model just not pushing quite as extreme temperatures as far north.

Unless things change very dramatically we are in for some extremely hot weather.

For most of us it's only going to be 2 or 3 days. Stay in the shade, keep curtains closed, don't drink too much alchohol and it will be back to clouds and rain before we know it.

We NEED these kind of warnings, cos it's only going to get much worse over the next 20 years.

It should be illegal to buy air-con without buying the solar panels to power it !

Stay safe all - see you on the other side....

Wasn't too bad most of the day here - especially the afternoon the breeze was cooling - but it seems to be getting muggier now we are getting into the night.

Work is going to be grim Sunday/Monday.
