It's too hot :(

With the climate warming you'd think the pharma companies would be investing in better sun-cream formulation
- women are/were probably more au fait with skin regimes, - but applying and removing this typically greasy stuff is just a PITA.

Interesting r4 article on sun glasses yesterday ~12:30 - some cheap ones let in too much uv, but through heavy filtering can reduce visible light to near the 9% limit for driving,
so you open your iris real wide and the uv dose getting through does even more damage.

The couple of colleagues I have been in contact- not been at work this month - first part I was on annual leave and second part, Covid. Said it has been quiet. Combination of people on holiday- schools broke up here last week and people not going out in the heat. As some people lose their appetite or willingness to cook in hot weather

Forgot that I’m meant to be taking my wife’s car in for a service on Tuesday. Was hoping to hide indoors the whole time. Think I’ll write off my workouts on Monday and Tuesday. 31C by 10am is ridiculous.

I did look on Amazon at one with a window kit and it looked easy enough to install. I dont mind a bit of noise either.

Ideally not more than £250 or so, might be cutting it a bit thin but I'm sure there's something decent enough if anyone can recommend I'll get it ordered ASAP. Will be in the bedroom though as mum said she didn't want one.
as a fresh owner of one (£200 zanussi 7000btu), from my brief search it looks like in this price range they are all similar

noise is somewhere between a washing machine on spin cycle and a really old chest of freezers.
It has a compressor in it, 5-10 times bigger than regular fridge, and fan powerful enough to extract all this heat and cold.

I have mine set up in same room, need good isolating headphones blasting loud music to ignore the noise.

I have a 9000 BTU one in my little office while I'm working and it's proper scorchio, and with Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Over-ears on, I don't notice it. Any in-ear headphones with the little rubber seal on would be fine too. The noise is well worth the temperature benefit anyway. If I had to choose between a bit of noise and being sat in the high 30s, I know which one I'd choose.

It’s just getting worse…

Dear oh dear mother phoned me up at 11.30pm last night she still thinks I need looking after at my age... i'm more worried about her she's already saying its too much and she really doesn't have a clue how bad its going to get next week. Elderly are really at risk in this heat and I don't think its ever been that hot in that part of world, ever.

Peeing down here and quite cool.

That wet stuff that falls from the sky... rain isn't it? Been so long since I've seen it I'm forgetting what it looks like

They add 1-2 degrees on every morning I check :p

The Met Office forecast is a good 6c lower than the BBC one I don't know which one to trust. Having said that the Met often radically update their forecast a day or so before so I'm expecting it to shoot up, its almost like they don't want to get criticised for over dramatic forecasting or something...
