It's too hot :(

You can't struggle to park if you're within walking distance of the beach, or in my case many beaches, and you can't struggle to get food or go to the toilet if there aren't any food or toilet facilities around :p
I’m talking about people where I live, Leicester, driving the 75 miles to Skegness. Or 175 miles to Bournemouth. Overcrowded beaches like they use the same stock photo in the media, fills me with dread. How can that be bloody relaxing?

Would anyone here do an 8 hour day doing Manual work in Monday’s heat?

Is it mega dangerous?
Guessing i be working 10 1/2 hour (7am > 6pm) on Monday & Tuesday :(
Or the boss may try push for us to work 7am > 8pm as it a very important week this week at work as we meant to have an insurance check on site on Webnesday so there going be a major clean up

Not if you're sensible. Many people do it all around the world. Make sure you're well hydrated, sun cream, hat and take regular breaks. Is it pleasant? No probably not, but it just needs a slight change in managing time and resources.

I think number of hours worked is a big factor. There's a massive issue in Dubai at the moment where a lot of immigrant workers who are in their 20s and 30s are dying of heart failure because of being subjected to many hours in the 40C+ heat all day.

Only so much the body can take regardless of how fit and healthy you are.

Terrible. Call in sick.

You most likely will fall sick anyway on Monday after a couple of hours in to work

Absolutely. I work in the civil engineering space and so often in extreme environments. That's why welfare is of critical importance. With the right breaks and resource planning it's not impossible to work in extreme environments, unfortunately not every company makes those concessions or plans for it and people end up overworked without adequate protection.

Bleeding hell its risen again, I'm getting addicted to checking it now, trouble is everytime I check its going up, keep thinking this hot air thing would get diverted away and it would be ok but sadly it is determined to hit the UK, looks like it might hit 50 by the time it is here on Monday

Foil in the windows, room's a lot cooler. If it does blow the seals that's a price worth paying with what's coming. The living room is south facing and gets the sun from early morning until the evening at this time of year.

They should have saved them jubilee bank holidays for this Monday and Tuesday.

Hope this is the last heatwave this year, not sure I can get through another one

I used to think jokes about the English moaning about the weather were exaggerated, but not any more... :)

Felling an 80 foot pine tomorrow, and logging it, then shifting it all. Whilst weighing the job up earlier I saw a small young crow stretching to reach some water, I think it had short corvid...
