where are you with then with 19 tomorrow, I want to go there, we are in the north east of england, usually never too hot here, highest we have normally see is now and again 30 maybe, now we are in this scorching heat of 39, just never seen before, some places near me 41, scary how this weather can come so easy, makes me fear the summers of the future as this global warming thing is rapidly getting worse, I didn't think it would come so fast, fear for future generations.

I filled a couple of large 2 litre bottles up with water last night and stuck them in the freezer. Have put them both in front of my fan this morning and it's working really well

Is it just me? If I have a hot drink after breakfast here in this weather, I sweat. No issues with this abroad
Liberal air conditioning in pretty much every hotel, as well as homes/cottages that are designed to withstand and repel the heat, rather than capture it like ours.
Good plan, I live in the countryside and opening windows and doors at night means I get absoloutely anihalated with bugs if any lights are on last night the entire kitchen ceiling was covered as I left the light on
Install the rolling insect screens over windows you have open often? It's a good investment.

My friends from lincs are having a proper rant today. I don't envy them. Fairly land locked. Where they are. Can't really escape it. They are mainly cold weather people too.

It's 30C at the local station now, this time yesterday it was ~25C iirc. While the forecast predicts 1C lower max, it's going to be 30C+ for a longer duration today and that's in the shade (see air vs track temps at F1 races). Those railway lines in direct sunlight are going to be seriously warm, just like metal playground slides that were cordoned off locally yesterday because they were burning kids using them.

Managed a few hours kip last night. Kept the kids off school though.

I can remember being in Budapest during a European heatwave about 7 years ago. It was around 38 and then the heavens opened, rained really hard for an hour and the temperature dropped by 10 degrees all within the space of an hour.
