It's too hot :(

It's literally been the hottest recorded temp ever for September 4th/5th, so no, it wouldn't have been 32c+

3 July 1976 (35.9C/96.62F)

Baking hot temperatures led to severe water shortages, promoting the Labour government to encourage people to share their bath water. The Observer's Sue Arnold took to London's streets to see how people were adjusting to living in a hot country.

3 August 1990 (37.1C/98.78F)

Cheltenham records the UK's highest ever temperature, breaking the 1911 record. A postmistress in Nailstone in Leicestershire says that villagers were sticking their heads in the post office cold cabinet to cool down.

1 August 1995 (35.2C/95.36F)

The UK had enjoyed fine weather all summer with temperatures peaking at the start of August (35.2ºC/95.36F).

k? And?

If it was 2c in May it would be unusual, just because it's been -5c in November doesn't change that.

It's never been 32c in September, because it's never even been 28 before.

We saw 31C in September in 1973, and in 1961, in Gatwick, the temperature recorded was 31.6C. It's very doubtful that we will break the all-time record though, as a 1906 heat wave brought September temperatures of 35.6C (96.08F).

Looks like a few tropical nights in a row, mad for September but a small price to pay for a decent period of sun before it all goes to ****.

Did you watch the met office deep dive too? :D

Its toasty tonight. Just putting a few things in garage.. Sweaty :D

Here according to the forecast drops back to 19c next Tuesday and might be the last of it , and the nights are drawing in
Its the sun its just not as strong as june/july the flat roofed public buildings in which I have to suffer aren't getting as hot thank god its not so much the ambient air temperature which heats them up its the solar radiation they just turn into storage heaters and bake the inhabitants its just not as bad at the mo

Run out of lettuce.

Why do people think that the only thing to eat when it’s hot is salad? Do the people living in hot countries live on salad? No they don’t.

You can have salads without lettuce by using white cabbage or baby spinach as an alternative. Or do a lettuce less salad - tomato, cucumber, spring onion, celery, peppers, radish.

Plus there are cold dishes to have instead. Some nice cheese and some nice bread?

Shows you how stubborn people are
Lol noticed the supermarket shelves have been cleared of salad managed to grab the last mixed salad on the shelf. Soft drinks shelves have been plundered too

dont think I would moan about the heat if I lived close to the coast
Was a heatwave one summer couple of years back, went to a caravan on the coast, and was completely different, steady cool breeze and was overall very pleasant, where you are at the time of the heatwave makes a huge impact I think, mostly due to proximity to sea air and level of wind.

Where I live there is usually no wind when we have hot weather, not even a breeze. I live in the middle of the country, in a city, and to top it off, my street is lowland, basically all directions is up hill I am like at the bottom of a bowl, which I think heavily restricts wind.

One positive- don’t need to code check the salad section for a few days.

Though we can use our initiative with reducing things - but not taking the p***. As several packs of leeks had today’s date on them. I don’t reduce them to the price recommended on the handset. I knocked off another 20-25p off the handset price.

Im sure our initiatives are helping. Last week, there were about 32 packs of stir fry veg with the same date. If I reduced them to the handset price - lucky to get 6 packs bought. But had 6 packs left on the day.

Obviously the forecast is hot but gonna be a proper scorcher I think today the way the mist and cloud are lying across the vale where I live - the way it is this morning is normally followed by exceptional heat.

Good luck to the pale frigid Brits today! Look forward to the complaints! :D
I shall spend the day relaxing, maybe a glass of wine in the garden at lunchtime, a nap etc. The joys of being retired on a lovely day. :D
Have to say though, I absolutely love early (6am) mornings on days like this. Perfect temps, and you just know it's going to get hotter and hotter.
