iTunes 7

Earlier I had the scratcting but that seems to have gone.

One MAJOR problem I have is with the sound quality. I output it to my proper seperates AMP/speakers via my creative audigy2 card and use EAX etc. With the version on itunes i had before 7 it sounded pretty dam good, now however, changing EAX presets does nothing and thew quality is *really* bad! (NB: by bad I mean it lacks depth/bass etc) . Its not the computer as music played with WMP/winamp etc still sounds good and responds when I change the EAX preset.

It says I cant resinstall 6.05 because 7 is newer. If I uninstall 7 then reinstall 6.05 will my library/playlists etc still be there?

Which is annoying because it looks cool!

Cheers

Even the most basic thing hasn't been implemented well. I install the new versions. It places an Icon on my desktop and a entry on my start menu. I move these to the location I want them. Itunes then at next start deciedes to run its installer again to correct the location of these two items. I want to be able to put icons on MY desktop were I want them, not were apple thinks they go best!

Has anyone eles had this problem and been able to get round it. (I know you can select not to install a desktop icon when you install but its hardly the point!)

Is this another case of apple software not working right on the PC? V7 on my macbook runs like a dream, sounds great and is sooo much better than v6. I have been seeing a lot of problems from users on other forums as well, but haven't seen any mac users complaining yet?

anyone having problems with the mouse wheel not scrolling down the music list ? i'm having to use the slider on the right instead now

Try closing iTunes, then delete the desktop icon and create a new one manually. Then delete the one in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\iTunes and create one there manually. Open/close iTunes again and then delete the icons and see if they stay deleted.

Recommendation from the apple forums is to copy (not move) the desktop icon to the location you want it then delete the original. For start menu entries recommended to copy it where required and then right click the original folder and set it to hidden. Maybe apple should stick to OSX.....

Does this application have a facility where when you start one song you can spend your time going through your catalogue and finding any songs you want to play next and double clicking on them and they go in the queue to play next like windows media player has?

Found a fix if anyone else has sound quality issues:

Start menu -> Settings -> Control Panels -> Quicktime
Click on Audio tab.
Set Size popup to 24 bits.
Click OK.
close out of itunes
relaunch itunes

I was on 16 for some reson. Sounds much better now!

Thanks for the tip, I can't try it now as it's to late. Does having it set to 24
bit improve the sound quality Vs 16bit? I thought CD's+MP3s were 16bit?

Am I the only one getting static and jittery sound quality straight away at 24bit? - On board sound btw.

I have an X-fi and get the same problem if the settings in Quicktime player are set to 24 bit. Changed it to 16 and restarted Itunes and it works ok. However, I seemed to have found another bug. If you turn the visualization on and try to click on any of the menus the visualization goes down to about 3 fps second and stutters bad. Only goes back to normal when you click back in the visualization screen

Im also having the 5.1 sound problem. I've tried the things suggested in this thread, and also ticking "Safe Mode (waveOut only)" from the Apple forums but nothing seems to do the trick. Has anyone got it sorted yet?

Mine makes my ears bleed on 24bit, and the 5.1 setting doesn't work either. Sigh.
