Jack Straw has the right idea!

Well unless I am misunderstanding VIRII, he is asking why Muslims were willing to stage an 8,000 strong protest about a veil, but not about the July 7 2005 attacks. ie. a protest to say that not all Muslims supported it.

Muslim forum members you mean? Because that is the point isn't it :)

So Muslims should protest against any killings that other Muslim's do?

Why haven't Christians protested about 7/7? Do they approve of what happened?

Why must only Muslim's protest? Are they guilty until they do so?

Do you protest against any/all imorral acts carried out by Christians/Athiests?

If there was a mass protest by Muslims against extremists within their ranks (as it were) then it might help them to better integrate into the UK and show the rest of us that you disapprove of the attacks. If I moved to a Muslim country and Christian or Atheist white people of British origin bombed buses and trains, I would want to show the natives that I wasn't of the same mindset.

But the bit that really tickled me was "its just disrespectfull to goto another contry and expect everyone to understand you". The British are really good at going elsewhere and expecting exactly that. Ask the Spanish about the British proclivity to move into a part of Spain and set up little enclaves, expecting English to be spoken, English food and recipes, etc.
Or if we look at it a little deeper we find ....

The British are really good at going elsewhere and taking money there, setting up businesses there, employing people there or simply retiring there on their own money at no cost to Spain whilst bringing wealth and economic benefit to Spain.
They don't protest at the lack of English being spoken nor do they demand others to print leaflets in English for their benefit and if they prefer English food they provide it for themselves.

What they do not do is arrive without a penny to their name, expect the local Govt to pick them up financially, house them, pay for their healthcare, educate their children (if they even take any) and generally feed and clothe them.

It is a very different type of immigration with some very different social benefits and costs to the native population. So the type of cliched comparison usually made between an Iranian immigrant coming here and a wealthy Brit going to Spain to retire is rather pointless and inaccurate.

Because as CLEARLY STATED in my original post if we are to believe that the 7/7 bombings are AGAINST ISLAM (as we are so often told) and the MAJORITY OF MUSLIMS ARE OPPOSED TO THEM then why wouldn't we expect a similar reaction to that seen over the cartoons or the veil.

Or to put it another way why are cartoons and/or comments over a veil so much more of an insult to Islam than murdering people in the name of Islam?
Or when a muslim murders in the name of Islam is he not actually insulting Islam after all?

That's a good point, but I wouldn't expect more than your say-so to show your support.

Stupid argument, just because there wasn't a big protest doesn't mean they agreed with the bombings. When was the last time you were in a protest about something somone from your community did?.....exactly. However you might be inclined to protest if the government said something you found offensive.

As for the sensationalists in here Virii and co that is...the protest has been cancelled;). I wonder which part of that statement you didnt understand clearly....

Sensationalist?
Why is it ok for everyone of your posts to take a swipe at me?
Can I call you a religiously blinded ignorant Islamic fanatic then? I doubt it and I don't do it so how about you mind your own posting because I am more than happy and far more than capable of responding in kind.

Oh and what exactly was sensationalist? I simply spoke of the capability to arrange a demo so what on earth does it being cancelled have to do with anything I stated?

Hold on . . Why should muslims who are all classed as 'Terrorists' brown nose their cause? Who bloody gives a crap what people like virii and cbs think?

Your argument is flawed . . "If you're not guilty go march" Jeez.

OOoh stupid argument right back at ya. What quality reasoning.
So cartoons that were never printed here cause a massive fuss and demop on our streets but murdering in the name of Islam doesn't?

WHY?

Alternatively why do they feel the need to demo over the veil comments and cartoons. After all just because they did not demo doesn't mean that they aren't happy about it.
Thats the thing really, people demo to say "we are angry about this" yet they were clearly not angry about 7/7 .... or is there some written law that says "thou shalt only demo if you dislike the Govt" ?

Agreed and your post reinforces my own post earlier.

ROFL.

Why do muslims demo at all then?

[muppets tune] ...... [/muppets tune]

By the way claiming a line of argument is flawed is not enough to make it flawed nor have you answered the questions raised :)

Awww diddums Virii, your all upset because i called you a sensationalist...well if the shoe fits then..... Why do you lot keep harping on about muslims doing this and muslims doing that??, tbh i dont think a lot of muslims really have the time or effort to go out and protest...well other than the misguided fools who think its amusing to wave placards shouting out death to the west etc etc. I know i havent, only time i have these days is for myself and my xbox360:p...plus my job takes up most of my time if anything so time to protest is a non runner for me. Or is it now the case that you will dictate to me exactly how i use my time??

You can call me whatever you like Virii...no skin off my nose tbh. Sadly you would be wrong to call me a fanatic but hey whatever floats your boat;).

Anyways i still cant understand the big fuss over this veil issue, if a muslim woman wants to wear one then let her...or sorry is there a law against wearing it. Who are you to dictate what a person can wear and cant wear??, i mean its ok for your women to wear short skirts, bikini's and show a fair bit of flesh and generally dress like a **** but when a muslim woman wears a veil, burkha or hijaab...its like OMG!!!1111!!! terrorist alert etc etc. Fair enough it doesnt help break down communication barriers which is a valid reason as you cannot see a persons face. But the issue is now over and done with but seems like the sensationalists in here cant help but chomp at the bit some more:p.

Maybe they don't associate themselfs in any way with the bombers it's like saying why don't all Christians start protesting when someone kills people in the name of the KKK.

As for protests at the cartoon, part of the religious teachings state that pictures of the prophet Mohammed cannot be depicted. It's like someone making a cartoon as a joke about somone you hold dear in your family, are you going to be happy about it?

If white Christians were a minority and relative newcomers to this country then the analogy would be valid ;)

I don't see how being a minority newcomer effects your right to protest?

Unless your suggesting they should protest to tell us non Muslims "We're ok really, it's just a couple that are bad"....suerly we don't need them to do that do we?
