January Transfer Rumours

Dafoe would do me, hes much more of a 'natural' goal threat then any of our strikers at the moment. Why hasnt he been playing much for spurs this season?

Because he cant finish.

Keane is a better finisher, and gets more of his shots on target than Defoe.
And before anyone says anything, argue with opta, not me.

I can't see a Defoe Cisse swap happening. I knew Jol was interested in Cisse but I don't think Defoe is the sort of player Benitez wants. He could've sold Cisse in the summer and made a move for Owen but he said Owen chose Newcastle over Liverpool and money was the key to the move. I'm convinced Benitez is building a team like Valencia and that involves target men and wingers, not short people like Owen or Defoe. If that's not the case he should've made more of an effort to sign Owen because it was obvious the board wanted him and were willing to fund a move for him even if he didn't sell Cisse.

Anelka recently converted to Islam, and has chosen the muslim name "Bilal"

So if he moved to england again, what would he be called? anelka or bilal?

No, IF he comes he will be refered to as "******* Anelka, do you not know the offside rule you ******* idiot".
Which is what my man city supporting coleagues at work would usually call him.

You have an £18m rated striker that's only managed to force his way into the team for half a dozen full games this season ? didn't realize your squad was so strong :p

We had an 18m rated striker, not my words this is the kind of price the press were puting on him at the end of last season, and you if take a look at the league Spurs are 4th so why drop Keane to bring Defoe in when clearly Keane/Mido is working, if it aint broke dont fix it. Still if it were my call i'd get rid of Keane if 1 of them had to go.

End of the day, hes not worth £18m and never was, in the same way Cisse isnt worth £14m (what we paid for him). Dont think Defoe will stick around too much longer to warm the bench, but not sure i want him at Anfield either.

defoe's problem is that he is hard to play in a partnership - he can score goals but his teamplay renders him difficult to incorporate into a top side - mido is spurs most important player since he is so good in the air and all round game is good. keane - although the opta stats may disagree - misses too many easy chances and is a bit too unpredictable - defoe and mido were starting to look ok but keane and mido has looked better - saying that defoe is better than keane imo.

if crouch is 7million and saha is 12 i would see defoe as just below 15 - ashton is being rated in the 7 million bracket.

Greek media are reporting that Manchester City have signed Georgios Samaras from Heerenveen tonight - for €8M  That's about £5M...

Fantastic capture, he has been in outstanding form for Heerenveen this season and formed a deadly partnership with Huntelaar,is one of the biggest talents in Greek football, he is strong in the air and has good finishing and composure. Hopefully, he can find his footing very soon :)

Here's his skysports pages:

Hopefully the British press will confirm this soon :)

Well Arsenal were supposed to have already signed him this week aswell so I wouldn't believe everything you hear his agent has been talking him up big style;)

Heerenveen also said he wouldn't be leaving till the summer

Nicolas Anelka, just the sort of teamplayer and calming influence Newcastle need after the likes of Bellamy, Robert and Dyer.

Exactly , Souness courted him over the summer before we signed Owen.
Souness said of him then "He's got his head right now."
Mind you he also inflated Dyers wage to 80k a week in July and has since played 2 games so anythings possible.
