Can't believe Liverpool are ready to part with £30million for Andy Carroll. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of the fools who reads, "£30million...they THINK HE'S WORTH 30!" I'm aware it's just what they think Newcastle will see him for. But still, quite a price considering he's only played 6 months of top level football.

It's particularly funny because the whole football club was for sale for £80m. :D

Again, not that it makes much of a difference but we've not bid £30m for Carroll, we've bid £25m.

As I said when Spurs bid for Carroll, he's not worth £25m, however he's arguably the best striker of his type around and if you play to his strengths (in other words, you've got wingers putting crosses into the box), he'd be a decent signing. What makes our bid even more strange is that we've not got a natural winger in our squad.

I thought Liverpool wanted to move away from the long ball game which Hodgson introduced the club to. Buying Carroll indicates one thing, high and long passes. English football.

Well you're trying to buy Young, but to call Carroll someone whose great for a team that crosses isn't particularly fair, wasn't it Liverpool he scored a fantastic goal from 20-25yards out? He's got a very good strike on him, he's very good at holding the ball up, he'll win headers all day long and knock them on to someone like Suarez. He's FAR more than someone to just aim crosses/long balls too.

As for Spurs, we should really look up a list of EVERYONE who played in that Athletic/real game, then we'd probably have a list of every bid Spurs will be making today ;)

Seriously, to a degree Spurs are just making themselves look desparate, and are making anyone they actually get seem like a 58th choice. Make Forlan your only target, bid huge and tell him you want to build a team around him till he retires, maybe, just maybe. Bid for 16 people, then Forlan, then try that speech and he'll laugh at Spurs while staying at Athletico.

So you have seen genuine copies of the faxes / emails / phone conversations from Spurs for all of these players ?
Or do you think its made up to sell papers / get you on websites.

Fellow Arsenal Fans,

What is your opinion on Alex Chamberlain. Do you think it's a good signing.

As a saints fan iv been watching him all season, flashes of brilliance, lots of pace and can run.

He's only 17 though so couldnt do more than 60 mins of football for the first part of the season (and is still only pushing for 70 odd mins now). He goes down too easy as well (wasted in l1 but against man u it helped)

Hope we dont loose him as he wont be prem ready for 3-4 years and will be playing champ football soon enough at any point...

It's pretty much a done deal, will be with Arsenal next season. Just wanted to get fans thoughts. People I've spoke to think he is not worth it. Definitely not worth £10M.

I'm sure DM has something to say about him.

The 10m was made up by the papers (a fair few like to stir things up about clubs that dont do deals over the papers).

He's not worth 10m yet but probably will be in a few years, probably a bit more if he pulls his finger out and ignores FM....

Oh and 30m for Carrol is beyond a joke, unless they are trying to pay newcastle to go down....

Come on Torres, fail your medical, although sky sources Torres has left melwood around 30minutes ago and will be at chelsea in 30 minutes, is he using the Concorde heli?

The only thing that will stop Torres signing for Chelsea is if that helicopter crashes, I can feel Anfield booing him all day when he arrives back to us. ;)

There are rumours City have put in a bid in excess of 50mil for Torres, though hmm, who would you choose? TO be honest City are more likely to win the Champs league final before Chelsea unless they utterly turn around their season and team they aren't doing it this year, also more likely to long term sustain a title challenge, though what happens as they try to get inside the uefa champs league financial rules that could change drastically, but thats not for 3 years now? He could always go to City for 3 years then leave, as a stupidly rich man.

Thing is, he'll get more games at Chelsea, and be more relied upon, and always have his own position, at City he'd likely be rotated more, but then, maybe he dislikes being relied upon so heavily, being part of a bigger squad where he'll be rested more often and less pressure is probably quite appealing.

Of course its more appealing! Come along Torres matey :)

I very much doubt city would be bidding for torres - they've already signed a decent striker this window and need to keep their wage bill under control from now on.
