January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

Mancini has apparently confirmed we've agreed a fee for Dzeko, and McClaren has been talking to the press about how he would be good for us. So I presume its only a matter of time till its all done and dusted, hopefully later this week.

And Man City get stronger again. Title this season?

edit: can't see lukaku going to city now as they don't need him with dzeko.

Yup. Watching it now. Deal will be done after Arsenal game. 27m out of their 50m budget. Thats not leaving much for another big name player.

The thing is Man City don't need another big name player. Fine, they have Dzeko now. Now, help him blend into the current squad and work from there. They have enough talent to win the laegue but man City still need to find a system that works.

This, once they get that team blend they will be a force just like Chelsea because that's what they have done sorted a squad that works and not chopped and changed it every transfer window since Roman came in, although guyfawkes5 seems to think other wise. :D

certainly would be gutted to see Agger go

It would be lunacy to let him go. The difference he (and Aurelio) made to the side at the weekend was so clear. Not only does he give us composure with the ball at the back but also in his defending; he reads the game really well and he compliments our other 3 cb's really well. Soto, Carra and Skrtel are too similar; they're all too combative and try to win the ball too early (lost count of the amount of times Carra and Skrtel have taken each other out going for the same ball over the last couple of years).

That transfer table is amazing! Stoke have spent double net on player transfers than chelsea over the last 5 years!

Coming to theatres near you.
At least I'm not straight to DVD. :D

That table means sod all. Football didn't just begin in 2006. Teams didn't start from scratch in 2006.
No, but chronological relevence begins around then. Something tells me if the table went back to 1850 and it happened to show Shoddenham in a bad light you'd be the first one to ask for more recent statistics. ;)

And as posted, the table going back to the start of the Premier League just about knocks you back to third, still ahead of those regularly finishing above you yet still apparantly 'outspending' Brown Shart Lane.

Not at all, and in fact I'd expect it to, given our successes way back when.

Our finances have been well handled and praised by many. Transfers aren't the be all and end all of the running of a football club. :)

Don't deny that mate, but then you're not the one moaning you can't compete financially with everyone above you in the league. ;)

I also don't think we can. Maybe in terms of overall spend... but can you really see us going out and spending the likes of £30m on one player? I think that's what Chong means. In a battle for a big name player, Utd or Chelsea would always win on the transfer fee side of things, and wages. Only in cases where they would rather move to us, like Berbatov initially, do we get the rub of the green.

Our record transfer fee was £16.5m for Darren Bent.

There was also £15m on Bentley with £2m bonus based on performances but I don't know if those have been reached.
