January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

Surely Chelsea's account won't be from right now? How could they include £50m of a deal that isn't even 100% certain yet? Not to mention that the tax year isn't up.

Surely those figures are for 09/10?

no those figures won't show the torres or suarez deals, we'll probably see them on their half year results.

*that won't mean we'll see a straight 75million more loss though as transfer fees have to be amortized over the duration of the contract signed (even if you pay cash up front) so you'd get say a £15million increase in losses + wages etc of course. Wages are Chelsea's real problem as far as I can see, that's why squad trimming will probably be required.

Yep but I think those two clubs are the ones that consistently give their players the most time. Can't really blame Liverpool though with te Torres thing being sprung on them. I think Chelsea obviously felt they needed one last splurge before the Ffp came in. Hah at city fans hoping they'd be buying, if your squad is still thin after a 300mill investment then something has gone seriously pear shaped.

The mods threw a strop last year that the transfer window thread was being taken off course. I believe their directive was that if you felt an issue was worthy of a thread then you should make it. It got 22 replies in a short time so obviously people thought it worthy of comment. Do the mods want use to go back to the mega threads then?

just rtm the posts in this thread if you consider them off topic.

And G|mp while I wouldn't normally have a problem with it, despite Andybtsn's contention it is the mods who requested us to keep threads on topic and to create new threads on new issues. When two people start the same thread about the same issue then yes I'd agree, just go with the one that started first, however posting about an entirely different topic in an existing thread is a different issue.

You're probably right but you know how it goes, it will end up in a slanging match about all sorts of things and be locked within 2 pages.

I imagine that's what they can't be arsed to deal with.

Yep but my point is that in this we've gone a dozen or so posts complaining about an on topic thread and there's still room for two pages of arguments which someone would have to tidy up/delete/move to a new thread and in the meantime people who may wish to discuss the transfers they did/didn't make in the window (as in stay on topic) have to read through it, whereas if it was in it's own thread they'd have the choice to enter or not.

Nah, he must be horrible, forget what all the people who might know him or have played with or against him and what they might say. Some genius on a computer forum thinks he's horrible.

Sort of a hijacking but I think it flows passably well from the transfers at the moment to future transfers and why they would/wouldn't work.

You are still allowed to create thread but not club threads unless there's been a recent rule change and I've missed it. If you're referring to the Gary Neville retirement thread again then his retirement was mentioned in this thread and wasn't deemed to merit the separate thread.

Yeah, because some people are challenged.

If Reina joined utd there'd be some kind of breakdown on here. Can't see it happening but if he wants to stay in England then logically it's only us or arsenal.

He is also nowhere near as good as the options Utd have this season, so its debatable whether he would add much to the bench

a lot of people seem to like him because he's English.....if he wasnt, he wouldnt be considered much better than an average player imo

Well the Sunderland fans rate him, he's done far more there in a team challenging for a european spot than Macheda has done in Italy. At his age there's more than enough promise there to not let him go yet.

Summer transfer thread time?

Baz you set it up, the mods are more likely to be ok with it if a Liverpool fan does it; because they are biased.

That's a joke, I don't think any mods are biased in carrying out their duties, please don't ban me.
