** January Transfer Window 2011/12 Season Rumours/Signings **

I think Newcastles scouting system has to be applauded immensely for some of their summer signings. Brilliant, under rated, under valued players who Newcastle took a gamble on.

West Brom have hardly done to badly either.

I think only Oberton was the one that would have been laughed at but then it must be pretty hard looking good with superstars around you. I imagine Gibson/Park etc would do a pretty good job at most Prem sides.

Ba looked excellent at West Ham, Cabaye has always been rated in France also.

Can't think who else they bought, I know more Frenchies but not sure if they've played much? Tiote being signed last season seems a good one.

Park does a pretty good job for the team he's at presently thanks a lot, agree about Gibson though his career looks ****** now though after not moving in the summer (I dont think he's even played much reserve team football this season)

Pereira is already signed if you believe his twitter

He's said himself he's signing in January has he not?

Any way... Everton will be signing Hazard, Neymar, Ganso, Gotze, Holtby just to name a few... after we've been taken over obviously. :D

Shame really, im not going to infect this thread with the comments but suffice to say it would be nice if you could remember what you said and reply to that. (but its too late now)..

I’d certainly welcome a couple of new decent CBs at Spurs, possibly with Bassong going to make way. As much as I love King they can’t rely on him all season. This is a good run he’s having now but it won’t last – sadly and I wouldn't trust any of our current defenders (inlcuding Dawson when he's fit) to be as well organised without him in the side and finding a like-for-like is going to be tough. Cahill – not sure. Otherwise I’m quite happy what we have.. Maybe some concentration lessons wouldn’t go a miss :)

My guess is Levy’s holding back funds until the summer and possibly a new manager.

Sneijder time please. We seriously need him.

Still a bad idea, you need someone young, cheap, decent but not undropable. Cleverley looks SERIOUSLY good, but you wouldn't drop Sneijder for him. He's going to cost too much, want ungodly wages, and is fairly old but still will keep Cleverley from progressing or getting that many games.

I said early season before the transfer window shut, Sneijder is wrong, you just need someone who is decent, because what you have is crap. Cleverley will be your top AMC, you need cover, its without cover that you've sucked. Cleverley isn't cover, he's too good for that, far far too good to be cover.

I'm not a fan of Huddlestone, Sandro is decent and both can pass and get forward, both are a huge step up from Fletcher and co. Yet they wouldn't cost you 30mil, nor want Rooney type wages, nor would they get unhappy not starting every game.

Utd need 2-3 of those types of players, a starting DM, cover for DM and cover for AMC. You've got to also think about how much Utd have already spent this year, and how a 200k+ a week wage for Sneijder would hurt your buying power in terms of a new DM and cover, because if he got injured you would STILL need the cover you need now anyway.

You need rid of Fletch, Gibson, Carrick Anderson and you need 4 5-10mil players, two DM's, two AMC's, one 30mil midfielder + 10-12mil a year in wages will stop you being able to replace the rest. All your egg's in one basket type situation, he gets injured, you're back to where you are now.

Yep DM's right we need to go down the Liverpool route for guaranteed success and bring in a handful of average midfielder's it's the only way :)

I agree with DM to some extent. I'd rather have a 15m million DM and a 15 million creative midfielder than just blow 30-40 on Sneijder.

+ 1 (or should that be £30m lol)

The problem is what does £15m get you these days -unless its a youngster (which wouldnt necessarily be bad), but Utd need experience in the centre , otherwise the back four will continue to be exposed and therefore potentially allow goal chances

More rumours of Berba going to Galatasaray (sp?)

spending 15m on a player doesn't mean they're average Tom. Look at the players we've got for under and around that value. Hell look at Cabaye at Newcastle, he looks a lot better than several of our midfielders.

Sneijder would be a massive outlay and a huge risk if either he didn't settle well (like Veron) or got injured.
