Haven't AV been ****ing dreadful as a whole this season though :p?

Wouldn't mind Albrighton.

yup, I really wouldn't suddenly assume Bent is crap because he's not done well. if a striker runs away from the ball and never controls it that is one thing, but if he really just never gets given the ball that is something entirely different. Its Mcboring in charge there, if its a half decent team, which apparently he thinks means anyone above about 14th, he's been largely playing men behind the ball, defensive pap.

To be fair, he built a fairly successful team based off that formula, Brum were crazy hard to beat for 12-18 months. Problem being Villa weren't that kind of a team, lots of pace, lots of pace up the wings and lots of counter attacking, this year with most of their established best players gone and Albrighton seemingly dropped for no apparent reason, Bent has had next to no service.

Sure there have been games he's missed sitters, that isn't at all different to years he scored 20+ goals.

he isn't particularly what Liverpool need though, I think it will be very interesting to see if Liverpool do better without Suarez. You guys need Suarez to shoot less and other players to shoot more, and get more involved.

Looking at Ba's stats, i'm surprised he wasn't picked up by a bigger club.

Like who?

City - don't need him
Utd - don't need him
Chelski - don't need him
Spurs - could argue he is better than Defoe
Liverpool - could argue ge is better than Carroll (on form)

No other bigger clubs in the league.

But hey if someone wants to pay 15-20mil on an injury prone forward who we got on a free and who is off to the cup of nations I'd take their arm off!

Not that the fat cockney **** would spend it. Rumour in toon is no money again in Jamuary, hopefully the fat **** ate too much turkey, has a coronary and can **** off so we can get a new owner.

Edit: missed Arsenal :p but doubt they would want him either.

To be fair he's an unknown who had a good but not exceptional season before he went to West Ham, and his transfer to West Ham was through 1 or 2 other teams passing due to his knee problems, whatever they supposedly are, and his move to Newcastle was the same thing with a couple other potential suitors passing up on signing him.

Had he spent 12-18 months at West ham and scored at the same rate, he would have ended up at a bigger team, but he was only there for a few months and missed quite a few games through injury.

His season so far, and added to his goals/games at West Ham he looks absolutely top draw though and Newcastle could face a battle to keep him.

If Newcastle finish up with a european spot though, and a certain starting spot for him with a decent wage then only top 4 will be a real improvement.

Looking at who needs what though amongst the top 6, Ba should be a real target for Spurs and liverpool....... IF RVP decided this season was the time to go to a team that might actually win stuff, then Arsenal should be looking at him as well.

Ba is scoring better than any Spurs player, than any Liverpool player, than any Chelsea player and most Utd strikers as well.

Welbeck, Macheda, the not played berbatov, City don't need him, Spurs will not keep Adebayor, Defoe is not in Redknapps long term plans, neither is Pav, when ade's loan is up they could offer Adebayor 150k a week and hope City let him go for under 10mil to compensate for the wages, in reality, they will not buy him and pay those wages. Ba is better right now, and would cost half the wages, maybe less.

Chelsea look set to lose Drogba, Lukuku has done nothing, yet, Sturridge is good but limited, and Torres has been crap, end of this season Sturridge would be Chelsea's only real goal scorer........

Stoke dropped the ball big time with Ba.

He was all signed up and pictured in our trianing gear for a 6 million move. The medical staff advised against it, our chairman got cold feet at spending a lot of money on a potential cripple and we backed out.

He then went to sign for west ham the next week for half the transfer fee.

As I said if someone wants to cough up 15-20mil on a free transfer with a dodgy injury record and off to the acn I would love it.

I do love Ba and would love him to stay though.

One of the bigger clubs wouldn't touch Ba with a barge pole due to his knee, he's had a fantastic 2011 though ROFL's at West Ham spending 9m on him for just 4 months though :o

Great bit of business for Newcastle though Carroll out for 35m Ba in for nowt

They didnt spend 9 million on him at all

that west ham deal is complete madness, cannot understand it for the life of me how they let that pass and moan about having no money. Pardew must wake up each mornign witha big smile and a huge boner. Maybe an even better deal than 80mill for ronaldo

Did they not? Was just going off what I thought Martin Tyler said during the game. Fair enough :o

EDIT:

Macheda's on his way to QPR on loan, would have preferred him to have gone to Wigan tbh

West Ham having bids (enquiries) turned down for both Jordan Rhodes and Peter Whittingham.

Although both were Enquiries, I've read that WHU actually made an offer of £3.2mm for Rhodes which was subsequently rebuffed - an unbelievable figure for a League One club. He came to us on loan a few seasons back and was awesome. Then he put three past us this season :( Seems like a sensible lad, and handled the correct way he could easily be a Premiership striker within the next few years.

I've always felt that Whittingham is one of those strange players - the ones that are too good for The Championship, but not good enough in the Premiership. Wil be interesting to see if he's still at Cardiff in a couple of years time, he's 27 and now is probably the right time to have a crack at the Premier League!

Ba is doing great at newcastle, so was carroll. carroll moves to a bigger club and becomes pish. rinse and repeat with Ba.

Carroll scored a lot of his goals as did Newcastle in a team that won a lot of set pieces and had someone who liked to swing in crosses perfect for heading in. That was Carroll's strength, something that is barely used at Liverpool, likewise Carroll had an injury, came to Liverpool cold and really didn't play all that much at all. He may or may not come good.

Ba is a completely different type of player, he came in cold with no experience of the players or teams in this league and has already slapped around lots of teams for two different clubs, who play with different styles and in different positions in the league.

In terms of finishing and quality Ba and Carroll or light years apart.

Ba would almost certainly do well anywhere, he's scored all kinds of goals, headers, powerful shots from range, tap ins, bit of everything against all types of opposition. he's only scored 2 less than RVP who everyone is creaming themselves over and he has a significantly better goals/shots ratio. 14 goals in 56 shots vs 16 goals and 86ish shots from RVP.
