Not too much change to the teams playing style? How crap do you think Henry is that Arsenal will play the same with Gervinho and Henry.

Gervinho has been utter, utter, utter gash, having someone good for two months will be a god send.... unless of course Henry turns out to be past it.

Honestly I don't know how good he is, I watch way too much football as it is, can't keep up with MLS games as well. I have no doubt he could still be brilliant, he was vastly under rated in his time at Barca. But if he's spent 2 years barely putting in any effort, not playing against decent sides and barely trying he simply won't be sharp or have form and maybe not the right fitness level.

If he were coming for 6 months or a year or two I think he'd have every chance of gaining some form and sharpness and be great. Over two months, it really depends what level he was playing at before the loan.

Either way, even barely trying and just cashing checks in the MLS, he can't be anything but a large improvement over Gervinho......

Our panic buying of players in the summer was bad enough. Henry is NOT going to fix or improve Arsenal long term, so what the hell is the point?

lol DM

Gervinho is ****ing awful though, you only have to watch him to see that, he's technically terrible and has the decision making of Walcott, even when he does something productive it looks accidental :p

This.

He may have been good in a weak league like the french league but so far hes just another Walcott in the making but without the pace of Walcott.

I just hope Wenger buys some decent players this window but tbh i cant see it happening...in anything he will buy some unknown players as usual.

Yayy for Henry coming back...cant wait to see him back playing in Arsenal colours.

Gervinho's goals/assists, Wigan, Blackburn, Wolves, Sunderland(pre O'neill) Stoke(post Europe and away = stoke death), and his lone solitary useful part was an assist against a Chelsea defence that, well, was on strike apparently.

Yes, when teams fell apart he has a couple goals and assists, he is beyond terrible as a footballer. If the other team basically fails to show up you can just about count on him to get a goal or an assist. Thing is, if you want to win games against real teams...... being able to not look like a complete spas goes a long way. His shooting is abysmal, his passing is abysmal, he can run with the ball, which is a shame as it means he clings to that and rather than a simple pass to set up a goal 98% of the time he just runs, and runs and runs, then loses the ball.

Theo Walcott got what is frankly a silly number of goals and assists(and yet, still not that many) last season despite being utter turd for most of the season in most of the games.

Its the premier league, when the crap teams play badly, Heskey occasionally scores...... that doesn't actually mean Heskey became a great player over night.

You do realise his distribution was excellent against Utd, as it usually is?

From someone who thinks Song is brilliant, to say Tiote's distribution is questionable is almost beyond belief.

Its like the same people who say the same thing about Diarra...... couldn't be more wrong.

Firstly both of their passing is good, secondly, the reason they give away the ball more is they don't pass it safely backwards at every opportunity to get their pass completion rate up.

Song gets the ball and passes it sideways or backwards most of the time, these are "safe" passes, and he still screws them up. Tiote and Diarra both get the ball and pass forwards to get the team moving forwards on a counter attack. Wilshire was the same last year, he gave the ball away more because he actually tried to play "real" football rather than this safe sideways crap that so many woeful defensive midfielders spend their time doing these days.

Most of the best DM's at the most successful teams in the world were never afraid to lose the ball by passing forwards, Makelele, Gilberto, Edu, Vieira(when he was the less offensive player in midfield), Busquets, Yaya, Keane, Parker, even Lucas isn't that bad in that sense. While you've got other DM's who "win" the ball and then spend half an hour getting the ball 3 metres sideways while the oppositions defence has got back and your own offence is standing around wondering where the ball is.

Tiote has played excellently for what, 2 years, against the best teams in this league, but you think he couldn't play for those best teams...... makes perfect sense.

His distribution isn't always good, he's sloppy in as many games as he's brilliant. Watch closer is all I can say.

I don't think Song is brilliant, I recall saying he was pretty good the other day.

Also you don't have to tell me what I see, I'm capable of processing that. I see him make sloppy passes in dangerous situations too often, mostly under little pressure, his concentration drops on the ball sometimes. I'm not talking about through balls in the final third, simple 5 or 10 yard ones in the centre circle

In other news, Wazza is off apparently

I thought you were joking, but this seems to have a lot of weight to it (as far as football rumours go, anyway):

aigu3vcaaerwpn.jpg

BBC sources say a statement is due shortly apparently denying it, but we'll see...

Very strange and came out of nowhere!

Well rooney has gone the way of beckham and ruud maybe even stam. The attitude of that guy is destructive, in the last game he looked close to getting a booking for his mouth alone.

From a chelsea perspective i wouldn't want him in my team as he is everything I dislike in footballers. I can't see him going anywhere except city or inter (obvious reasons of cost and fitting in) though the brothels in spain would keep him happy.

If we're in for Redmond I really hope we get him. I've only see him play twice but he's blisteringly quick and has a excellent cross on him. Tore a competent left back to pieces in the Europa league recently and reminded me of Giggs at the same age.

Heh, they've already issued a denial.

Lucky it wasn't a Fernando Torres rumour. We'd be waiting all year for a reply.

Unlike United to come out and deny pathetic rumours. Fergie commented on Lampard earlier as well which was strange.

Loving the fact that the club have publicly called BS on a story that most people wont read till tomorrow. Wonder if the Independant will be issuing callbacks before the paper hits news stands :o

Re: Rooney, James Lawton was on 5Live and he was basically a babbling mess. He was very non committal about it didn't say specifically if his source was at the club or what not. To be honest it just sounded like it is his opinion on things from what he's heard.
