I don't think Tiote will make it at a top club. His distribution is really hit and miss. His passing is at times laughable. He's really good at winning the ball back though, you just need more than that about you to play for the likes of Man Utd. I guess he could improve that aspect of his game in years to come but it's not up to standard at the moment.
You do realise his distribution was excellent against Utd, as it usually is?
From someone who thinks Song is brilliant, to say Tiote's distribution is questionable is almost beyond belief.
Its like the same people who say the same thing about Diarra...... couldn't be more wrong.
Firstly both of their passing is good, secondly, the reason they give away the ball more is they don't pass it safely backwards at every opportunity to get their pass completion rate up.
Song gets the ball and passes it sideways or backwards most of the time, these are "safe" passes, and he still screws them up. Tiote and Diarra both get the ball and pass forwards to get the team moving forwards on a counter attack. Wilshire was the same last year, he gave the ball away more because he actually tried to play "real" football rather than this safe sideways crap that so many woeful defensive midfielders spend their time doing these days.
Most of the best DM's at the most successful teams in the world were never afraid to lose the ball by passing forwards, Makelele, Gilberto, Edu, Vieira(when he was the less offensive player in midfield), Busquets, Yaya, Keane, Parker, even Lucas isn't that bad in that sense. While you've got other DM's who "win" the ball and then spend half an hour getting the ball 3 metres sideways while the oppositions defence has got back and your own offence is standing around wondering where the ball is.
Tiote has played excellently for what, 2 years, against the best teams in this league, but you think he couldn't play for those best teams...... makes perfect sense.
