I doubt there are many informed people who think Rooney is average.

As for uninformed people, they've probably never heard of Lionel Messi and would 'guess' he's worse than Rooney, so who cares what they think.
 
Apparantly McLeish said KD has told him were not intrested in Bent, It might of been posted but since half of you were bickering for a couple of pages im not checking :p

dos santos played a good game, starting to hope he get's given a bit of a chance but i think he will be off. he's had a sporadic 4 yrs with us

surely be curtains for carroll if bent went to liverpool?

Based on what can any sane person have the opinion that Balotelli is far more talented than Rooney?

EDIT: My mistake you said gifted, I guess you cant argue Balotelli is 'gifted' he's certainly without a doubt a 'special' kind of guy. That must be what you meant.

yes, i said gifted and yes, i did mention silva in my original post. i also mentioned kompany as city's most important player

I'm genuinely interested what you've seen of Balotelli that's helped you come to the conclusion that he's a far better player than Rooney? Or is this like when you said Jones was a waste of money and we should sell him now?

it's as simple as this, given the choice between rooney and balotelli in attack, i would prefer balotelli. rooney peaked probably about 2 yrs ago, i can't see him improving. balotelli is still rather unproven but has shown signs of what he can do and therefore, i'd prefer balotelli ..... no, actually, i'd prefer silva

For one what's to say Balotelli will improve? He's certainly got the self destructive personality traits that suggest he could just as easy manoeuvre a move back to Italy in the summer as he is to stay with City and improve on this season.

I also fail to understand the rational that a player who you admit is unproven is far better than someone who is undoubtedly proven?

For what it's worth I think you may have be correct in that what we see today is what Rooney will be for the rest of his career (i.e. no significant improvement ability wise) I do feel when he hits 28 though he'll be a lot more consistent than he is today.

Just out of interest is Adebayor better than Rooney as well? :p

Interestingly on goal.com they have some pre game hype articles and they list Jones as utds weak link. They say its a toss up between de gea and Jones and that despite being lauded as the next Edwards (fairly ridiculous) his performances have been pretty awful this season.
