I like the look of Powell, few years and I think he'll come good.

Sure I read/saw an interview with Scholes where he commented on him.

He's been brought in as Paul Scholes' replacement. That's been pretty common knowledge for some time.

You're being very unfair on an 18 year old. 2 year's ago he was sitting his GCSE's, he can only just be classed as an adult.

Whether he turns out to be Scholes or Gibson is to be seen, but there's one thing for sure, Gibson got a lot of chances, is much older and never hit a ball with the finesse powell has been seen to, Gibson just rifled a foot at it.

I don't think anyone can replace Scholes.

You're saying give the lad time but already the biggest pressure has been mounted on his shoulders telling him he's been brought into replace Scholes

Yep that's what we did to him home and away last year too, stupidly ineffective once his head dropped and just lashed out at our players.

He got a yellow just before he was subbed at palace away last easter for just going in late on someone who nicked the ball off him after a whole game of nothing going right for him

from the sounds of things its £10m up front and then add-ons (to be paid at least another 18 months away)

He could end up as another Bebe, or it could be a Vidic / Evra (admittedly they cost a bit less, but were both transferred in Jan window) - lets just see how the lad does

Newcastle are being brave buying a whole new team. It didn't work out too well when qpr did it in the summer. Didn't they buy something like 11 new players?

Surely the players there aren't going to be too happy.

I've given up hope of wenger signing anyone.

Players that can have no complaints, they're why they are in the position they are and need to splash so much on transfers in this window.

Have no fear, Wenger is probably too busy keeping an eye on the ACON at the moment, will probably swoop for some more Gervinho type of players on the last day, god knows how much we need a few more Gervinho's in our side

Heard Wengers latest rant? Apparently he has called for the January window to be closed in his press conf this morning.

Surely he can't damn the transfer and say its unfair on teams then go and spend money in it. Sounds like we are done for the transfer window and are now chasing Europa cup...

Diaby, rosicky and gervinho are like new signings though aren't they? Lol
