January Transfer Window 2012/2013 Season Rumours/Signings
"I gave them a chance today because they knock on my door and say they should be playing and other people tell me they are all good players," the former Tottenham boss said.
"Well, they got their chance today and they blew it. It answers questions - not for me because I already knew the answer, but for other people. Today they saw the answers."
If he already knew the answer [players not good enough], then why did he pick them?
Reminds me of last season when he was at Spurs, when they played 4-4-2 and lost, and in the interview he seemed happy that they'd lost because that vindicated his decision to play 1 up front "I'm right and they're wrong, they said play 4-4-2 now they got their wish and we lost".

If he is picking teams to please other people then why is he in management at all?

Kieron Dyer being linked with Boro. The Boro physios have enough work on their hands as it is. Unless it's on a pay as you play deal I really don't see the point.

Is there any news on Arsenal getting David Villa and Gotze from Borussia Dortmund

I think it's wishful thinking.

Just a few days left and no activity again. Newcastle but a whole team and we can't get one player in that is better than our current players.

Either people are pushing up the prices or wenger really does have an over inflated opinion of his players.

I think even without the constant injuries to certain players we are lacking a bench.

Not really relevant for this window but I will post it anyway.

Mario is practically on his way sometime this week and the rumors are that Dzeko wants to go back to Germany and if Dortmund sell Lewandoski they will go for him.

We will then use that money to bid for Cavani who Mancini prefers over Falcao.
That leaves us with four strikers but Tevez in the last year of his contract and on his way to Boca at the end of it.

Almost every pay as you play deal I've seen to date is still a decent wage, just more tacked on, none of them would bother, and more importantly any player that has gone 5+ years barely playing but getting a wage, is used to doing just that, and/or is doing something wrong. The kinda guys who tell their physio they did their 3 times daily stretching at home, and over summer, but infact don't and keep getting stupid little injuries because they are making a great living without doing any real work.

Owen, Dyer, Hargreaves, even on pay as you play deals they've been making a couple million a year never playing, they just stood to make another couple million if they did play.

The only way I'd take Dyer is if he paid my team weekly for all the resources and time physio's spend on him, and he gets 5k for every appearance, 20k for every appearance over a certain amount, etc, etc.

I think it's wishful thinking.

The laughable thing is, people are again starting to warm up to Giroud, where does the team go with Villa in it, 10mil 150k a week wages to get someone of his level, then you dump Podolski or Giroud to the backup again, worthless deal is worthless. Villa will want to go somewhere to be first team, Arsenal need to strengthen its first team positions, not increase squad problems and strengthen the strongest parts of the team.

Does Podolski need replacing, no, does Giroud, not really, will Wenger replace our highest wage earner(jesus, that makes me cringe) in Walcott, so where would Villa play? Villa's interplay, passing, crossing is under rated, but he is a much better out and out striker, but Podolski/Santi only play well with a Giroud type player infront of them, with a Walcott, or a Villa who is mostly looking to run in behind, those two go back to being crap.

Fullbacks is where Arsenal can improve the first team the most, then adding a couple of proper wingers(but this is only worthwhile if Walcott/Gervinho are gotten rid of, as in its worth it but Wenger wouldn't play better wingers if Walcott is available, its his way), a central midfielder or two largely as back up, but back up that is significantly better and more reliable than what we have.

The very last improvement or squad burden we need right now is more strikers

But yeah, Wenger has a ridiculous idea of how good some of our players are. He has zero intention of buying a first team left back, Gibbs is our first team left back till injured(probably not long now) or Wenger is fired, he should be looking to buy a Santos replacement, and that guy could end up being better than Gibbs(even if Wenger doesn't play him ahead of Gibbs). Right back, he doesn't trust Jenks over Sagna, and all the indications are he's willing to let Sagna walk at the end of the season... which doesn't bode well for Jenks, he might try and buy a right back, who knows.

More on Drogba:

Galatasaray have confirmed they are in negotiations with Shanghai Shenhua to complete the signing of Didier Drogba.

Reports on CNN Turk over the weekend suggested Drogba had already agreed a one-and-a-half year deal at the Turkish club.

And while those details are yet to be confirmed, Galatasaray made a statement to the Istanbul Stock Exchange on Monday to confirm they are in talks with the Chinese club.

The 34-year-old striker, who is currently captaining the Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, only joined Shanghai Shenhua from Chelsea last summer.

"When I took the job 500 games ago, I knew the situation wasn't going to be having lots and lots of cash to spend," said Moyes.

"I cannot suddenly turn around and say 'Hey, where's the cash?' because that wasn't in the agreement.

"I was reading in the programme before the game that in the past 10 years we have only finished in the bottom half of the Premier League twice so we have improved as a club and grown.

"A lot of my time in the next week will be devoted to trying to get someone in but more of my time will be devoted to trying to win the games we have.

"I will tell the chairman what we need and hope we can do it together. I know exactly, he gives me every penny.

"We are pretty straightforward at the club, if you don't have it you can't spend it. But if I have to have a bet on whether we will get someone in, then I would back myself to do it.

"I can't tell you which position we are looking for because sometimes in the January window it's a question of looking for a number of options and seeing who comes along."

Leroy Fer is coming on for €10m ~£8m. No wonder Moyes said that earlier on today haha, sneaky mother****er!

Word is that spurs have met Shalkes £1.5m fee for bringing in Holtby 6 months early..

Now, if we could only get a striker that was 1) over 6ft and 2) not horribly inconsistent we might actually start putting some of the chances we make away..

Darren Bent? :p

The problem with buyer a striker, especially in the January transfer window, is that they're incredibly poor value.

Unless you're willing to wait (either wait for a bargin or wait for a player to develop) then you're going to be paying at least £20mil for a decent striker. Even at that price, there's plenty of strikers who haven't done the business.

Togo's final group game is on Wednesday. Adebayor could be back for the West Brom game on Sunday.

"When I took the job 500 games ago, I knew the situation wasn't going to be having lots and lots of cash to spend," said Moyes.

I'm not certain what season Moyes began, but here is a breakdown of Evertons spending:

2012/13 - £14m (so far)
2011/12 - £8m
2010/11 - £1.5m
2009/10 - £20m
2008/09 - £17m
2007/08 - £19.25m
2006/07 - £7m
2005/06 - £27.6m
2004/05 - £11.25

Total = £125.6m

I would hardly call that nothing...
