January Transfer Window 2012/2013 Season Rumours/Signings

Pfft. Looks like Nick Blackman is leaving Sheff Utd to join Reading. He's our best player, but Reading are stupid for buying a player that isn't good enough for the Premiership, and he's stupid for believing he's that good.

Stupids.

For most players football is a job, that stupid guy for not knowing he's not good enough for the prem, is about to get a pay bump, and make a crapload more money, maybe for a year, maybe for a few years, maybe he gets shipped out and takes a pay cut but probably ends up on more than he's on now.... what an idiot.

As for Balotelli and the Inter/AC thing, saw some list(mighta been on here, can't remember :p ) that said something like he'll be the 33-34th player who has joined Inter from AC or vice versa, but it was like 3 players from AC to Inter up to like the mid/late 90's and since then its been pretty regular, same goes for the reverse, pre 90's it was almost unheard of, and now its not really a big deal... though I guess the Inter racists who thought nothing of having a go at one of their own players for being black will have a field day in the derbies.

If I was him I'd have gone Juve, even if friends family are in Milan, the racist ultra's from Inter, I wouldn't want to deal with them.

On Wenger, I said we've have Wenger mk 2 since the end of the unbeaten run, since then its been a completely different mind set, before then he'd sell Overmars to buy a Pires, after the unbeaten run it was getting rid of Pires's to keep the Hleb's happy. Everything about him, the way he brings people into the team, the quite ruthless way he got rid of people he thought could be improved upon, the mentality of the players, the formation/style of attack, defence, everything has been different. He's never had success in terms of trophies of cup wins with the current formation, tactics or style of player he's currently favouring.

Also I've been saying for 5+ years now, Wenger's problem isn't that he couldn't find new players to buy, or is unwilling to spend, nor that the board won't spend, its that Wenger genuinely believes players like Diaby are amongst the best around and is completely oblivious to the reality that even if he was, he will never play a major part in a season due to injuries/lazyness.

If you actually have Messi, you don't look around for a replacement, if you THINK you have Messi, you don't look around for a replacement, Wenger truly believes Diaby isn't ridiculously easy to replace. Its not that he can't replace him, he hasn't looked for anyone, he doesn't think he needs replacing.

Spot on about Wenger to be honest. He always talks about only buying players if they're top quality, if they're better than what we already have as if it's hard. Surely it isn't hard to find a Santos replacement, a better right winger, a right back who isn't totally mongtarded perhaps?

Sure, if Wenger thought Diaby for example was utter turd he probably wouldn't come out and say it publicly, but he'd at least have tried to offload him by now, instead of handing out new contracts like candy.

Oops yeah, just wrote Ajax by accident, as i was gonna mention Ajax/Jol connection :p

Is he any good?

He's average really. Lots of pace, and that is basically it. As someone mentioned, he started as a LB but was moved up due to his inability to defend.

I guess he is ok if you want someone who can run and cross a ball, but he is not a finisher at all.

Yes he will end up on more than he's on now. But, he will also finish off his development because he won't get the game time. If he stayed with us/went to Crystal Palace when he had contract talks with him, I'm sure he'd end up as a Premiership player in a couple of years time for the lower teams. Instead though, he's being greedy instead of thinking about his development, and will probably earn less over his career for it.

A bit like Jordan Slew who left us, he could have been a top player if he only stayed with us and got the game time, and had a little patience. Instead he jumped at the chance to play for Blackburn. He's had 13 appearances since, and only 1 of those at Blackburn. He'll most likely now go on to play for a lower League 1 side or a league 2 side - Both on much less wages than Sheff Utd would have been able to pay him, and much, much less than he could be earning if he'd have thought about his long term career, and not being greedy about the short term.

Depressing but very true.

Just a day left in the transfer window and still nada from Arsenal. Unless Wenger plays a blinder and gets a couple of decent players in but i cant see it.

It's hardly crisis o'clock, though! I mean, Arsenal are a point behind Everton, and four points behind Tottenham... but I'd back Arsenal's depth over Everton, and Tottenham are in a spot of bother with Sandro out, Defoe having his hip issue and Adebayor being unpredictable (in terms of form). I think Arsenal will get fourth/finish above Tottenham and Everton.

Holtby is coming in this week though? Should be cover for Sandro at least.

QPR have met a release clause in Chris Samba's contract with Anzhi Makhachkala... Surely it's going to be quite a lot?

What happened to "we're not a team of mercenaries" ? :o

Hes a funny one good ole 'Arry:p

Wasnt it the other day he was likening the Jan transfer window to gang warfare??, talking about agents of players etc.

Harry Redknapp says the behaviour of agents during the January transfer window is close to 'gang warfare' as he tries to rebuild his squad and drag QPR out of the relegation zone. 'If you've got a deal and you're trying to get a player, another agent will try and scupper that deal if he's not involved in it to try and get you to have one of his players, it's unreal,' says Redknapp

LOL so are these agents going out and popping caps in peoples backsides or something??:p

Everton are spending maybe 70mil on wages, Arsenal spent 143mil last season, when a manager can't do comfortably better than a team spending half as much, he is screwing up MASSIVELY.

The crisis part is being this crap with such a high wage bill, while consistently giving out new contracts with bigger wages to all the players that aren't good enough. We're also closer to 9th than we are with 4th at the moment. Each year we get rid of a really great player, and then pay someone no where near as good MORE money than the great player, its a recipe for eventual disaster. Every transfer window compounds the mistakes of the ones before. If Arsenal end up out of Europe, with huge contracts that take years to wind down, stuck with Diaby's on 60k a week for 4 years, Walcott on 100k a week, Arsenal could lose a crapload of money in only a few seasons.

AS for backing Arsenal's depth, take a really good look at our bench most games, Santos, rubbish, Arshavin, broken, Gervinho... lol, Squillaci/Djourou, rubbish, Jenks, best fullback, can't get a game, Diaby/Rosicky, lol, Ramsey, crap, AOC, genuine potential but hasn't delivered really anything yet.

Arsenal have one win in the last 4, before that we won 4 on the trot, but against Wigan, Reading, Newcastle(all in horrendous form at the time) and West Brom, also in poor form but noticeably higher up the table at the time. That was out big 12 point push recently to move up from 10th to 3rd, and are now slipping backwards, , any team that plays 4 of the worst form teams in the league in a row will move up the table, but there will be 4 games against the top of the table to compensate at some point.

Our 3 entire wins against the top half were Liverpool 2 games into a season with a new manager, a 10 men Spurs and West brom who on current form will be finishing well into the bottom half. We've played 14 bottom half games, and 9 top half games, and we have a dreadful top half record. There is very little to suggest at this point in time we can make 4th, and while spending double what Everton are and not far off double what Spurs are... that is an entire god damned joke.

Its not a crisis, Arsenal aren't going to go bankrupt tomorrow, but football isn't about one season, or one transfer window, its about years of mismanagement, and every single transfer window Wenger makes all the wrong mistakes is just making things worse for Arsenal long term. Have we signed anyone new, no, did we give a complete *** an extra 2mil a year in this transfer window for no reason, yup. Just another in a huge long line of terrible decisions.

I'm not looking for an immediate fix, I'm looking for one sign Wenger has regained his mind and makes a good decision, sell a **** player like Diaby or Rosicky and buy someone fit and capable in their place on a reasonable wage.

Reasonable wage?? with the likes of City, Chelsea and Utd to an extent paying better wages than we can...what makes you think we can sign a fit and capable player and give them a reasonable wage, im genuinely interested because looking at the teams in the EPL...any decent capable player will go to either of those 3 teams i mentioned due to the wages they pay and also the fact that they can compete for trophies consistently...whereas Arsenal can no longer compete for trophies consistently.

What he means is, Arsenal have a lot of over paid dross on their books.
Their wage structure isnt the same as other clubs, all the players are for the most part paid similar wages, as in 50 to 60k a week.

Rosicky, Diaby and Arsenals comedy defenders shouldnt be on anywhere near 60k a week, but they are.
Diaby, 50k per week.
Rosicky 80 THOUSAND POUNDS A WEEK!
Squillaci 60k per week, he made one league appearance last year, and none so far this.

Despite DM's constant doom and gloom we are still hanging in there for the little amount of investment.

He has signed three good players this year who have a good start to the season. And although not the finished product and a higher than earned contract Walcott is knocking in the goals and assists. When you have people like qpr and Newcastle throwing money around we aren't going to get anyone in on a reasonable wage. We don't want more average players coming in and not playing.

It's also not going to be easy to get rid of bad players, yes they are on high wages but not ridiculous wages. Throw in the fact they constantly get injured then they are hardly going to be snapped off the shelf.

It's a depressing year for us result wise but we aren't too far behind 4th place, it's just going to be the most competitive year for that spot.

My main worry is that if we slip out if 4th and CL we won't be able to attract the top players.

It would be a nice boost to the fans and team if we grabbed a recognised player in the last day but I can't see it happening.
