January Transfer Window 2012/2013 Season Rumours/Signings

Well I'm pleased we have addressed one area that actually needed strengthening. Hopefully he is our first choice from now on.

I don't like the fact we didn't replace Sagna as it probably means we will be resigning him in summer.

Would have liked another game changing player but hopefully arshavin gets a few games instead. He is like a new signing...

It was a pleasant surprise but I'll be surprised if the new lad replaces Gibbs. Hopefully with Gibbs being out for 3 weeks, he'll cement his place in the team, but I'm sure Gibbs will jump straight back in after his injury. This is all assuming Monreal is any good of course :p

I'm hoping Sagna goes. Its a waste of time playing him now. He's look disinterested all season, massive lack of work ethic and in general, looks like he can't be arsed.

Pffft you can keep the dirty Chelski fan! :p

Haha! Not fussed who he's a fan of, just as long as we keep him and have one of the most exciting left backs in the prem :D

Yup, I would have been quite happy to spend some real money on Shaw, but with the money Southampton are throwing around and I think they gave him a new improved contract didn't they, I think it would have taken a pretty big fee to get him. IE they were getting 10-15mil for Walcott/AOC before they got in the prem and had some money, he's a real prospect, I could see him moving for 15mil easy, maybe more, maybe they have the balls to simply say no to any sensible price.

If they get relegated, we should snap him up asap though, then sell Gibbs to whatever stupid team is overspending on Arsenal players next summer, theres always one these days :p

We were trying to work out what would be an acceptable price for Shaw after the Everton game, he's still on youth terms (till he turns 18 in June) so technically could have been swayed by a big contract fairly soon though has agreed one with the club about 5 months ago for his birthday.

Anyway our chairman is a bit odd, the £12m plus add ons for AOC isn't really a bench mark, just a bare minimum for players like that these days (especially one who got tapped up really badly). Shaw I would have been outraged at anything less than £20m and I guess the chairman just went HA no sale and will try to do the same thing if we go down...

the FA must look at Odemwingie and QPR

he must have had some sort of nod and a wink to turn up..his advisors must know the rules in the UK about speaking to clubs without permission so I find it hard to believe they just turned up without anybody knowing about it

I'm not sure if anybody mentioned it in the thread but Liverpool terminated Doni's contract yesterday. For the past 7 months nobody has had a clue what's been going on with him - the official line was that he'd returned to Brazil for personal reasons but no journo had a clue and when asked, Rodgers refused to say anything. It's being reported in Italy today that Doni has a heart condition and that he nearly died during some medical tests at Liverpool last summer.

Really sad to hear if it's true.

Oh god didn't realise it had been medical? :(

Just thought he was leaving because he ended up 3rd choice behind brad jones, hope he's alright though!

Brian McDermott saying on SSN that they tried to sign Sigurdsson making 3 bids, one of which would have broke their own transfer record but Spurs didn't accept.

Will Harry Redknapp be the new Jimmy Savile? Most papers try and sort of deny his wrong doings and when he goes it'll be "we all knew and tried to do something"...

Does he even get games at Spurs??

Right so according to SSN this morning Gibbs our walking, talking injury crock of a player is out for 6 weeks now. Kinda glad we signed an LB in Monreal, i just hope hes decent enough to play rather than having the godawful muppet that is Santos.

Odemwingie?? LOL just LOL, just heard on SSN that hes been sent home from WBA training and told to stay at home for the next few days. God knows what was going through his head coming to London to QPR hoping money bags 'Arry would sign him:p:D. Like i said late last night, what a monumental douchebag he is.

Having to face his team mates again.... after being interviewed on SSN and saying "we" in context of QPR..... awkward!

Just read this as well, I think it was all of last night I said he'd be out for more than 3 weeks, either way, Monreal is cup tied so we have Santos home and away, or I don't know what, Verm is infinitely better at left back than Santos, but against pacey wingers on both sides who like to cut in, I dread the idea of them focusing on going around Mertesacker, he's just soooo slow, and frankly rubbish that I don't think we can cope without Verm in the middle.

Wenger was once again talking up Monreal's versatility and ability to play on the wing... I'm still not remotely convinced he'll be our first choice LB, because I just get the sense he's fully invested in Gibbs as our first choice LB. Have to see how it plays out after Gibbs is back, I think we might see Wenger mess around with either at left wing and left back. He also seems to have been tracking this guy for over a year and it took an injury to decide to buy him, IE when it was a choice of keeping Gibbs first team or buying a better LB, they seemingly decided Monreal wasn't good enough and didn't buy him, its only the injury that has forced them to buy him. Wenger's clouded judgement aside, I hope he comes in, blows the team away, shows how crap Gibbs was and he keeps his place... but with Wenger you just never know any more.

Yep Monreal wont be available to play in our CL games against Bayern as hes cup tied :(. I think that Verm will probably be pushed to LB with Kos and Mert as our CBs and Sagna as our RB....reckon that will be our back 4 against Bayern but knowing Wenger and his retarded selections, i wouldnt be at all surprised to see Santos starting, Ribery and Robben will tear him a new massive one if he plays.

Funny thing is Wenger is still saying Santos has a future at the club :/.

Its still much better than Santos playing in both the league and cup games. A nice run in the CL would be good but its more important that we do well in the league and FA Cup.

True but what worries me the most is Wenger saying Santos still has a future at Arsenal, which means we wont be selling him anytime soon :(.

I dont think it would be wise to say he hasnt got a future as we might rely upon him(Fetch dry cleaning or clean car?!?)

I think he would have been gone this Jan if Gibbs wasnt injured. I would rather play Diaby or Diabys Gran at LB than Santos.

Its not as if he is good going forward either. He is the worst player ive seen in an Arsenal shirt

Hope we get rid of Santos asap. Really happy with who we got. Another signing would have been nice. But this in my opinion was the most important position to sign a player for.

By the way, do you guys know if we have paid off all of the debt of the emirates stadium yet? if not how little remains? I am hoping this summer we can splash out!

As for Wenger saying that. Better to say that because we could end up relying on Santos due to more injuries. But I really hope we stop playing him now...
