That's hilarious! "our way is a bit like Barcelona"
Other than having a big attendance Wenger is really clutching at straws there...
Yeah, a bit like Barca, who spend big on a few players but the vast majority of the team and quality came through cheap players they've had since young kids. The problem is the time Wenger's been at Arsenal, our top youth players who have come all the way through is ..... Wilshire, everyone else has been brought in basically at or very close to the level they started playing first team games at.
Our youth team consistently produces crap, Barcelona's "rejects" often go off to other La Liga teams and look decent, ours go to lower league clubs, with a couple of exceptions and tbh, I can't remember what ages guys like Bentley and Pennant were at the club from.
lol, Larsson came in at 16, his debut for Arsenal was out of position at left back, lol, one of the best right wingers in the league last year, and not doing a terrible job in central midfield this year. Bentley, actually did join Arsenal young, barely got a chance and quite funnily started off as a striker and ended up out wide under Wenger... original story that one.
A bit like Barca..... that we pay a man that is so clearly a crack addict to run the team is somewhat baffling, a man who can be tactically out thought by a god damned coat.........
"Will continue to build the core of the team from within".............
that would be, the keeper, actually brought in at 16years old, not particularly brilliant but not bad, Verm, Kos/Mert, nope, Arteta, Santi, Diaby, Giroud/Podolski/Gervinho/Walcott.... the spine(central lot is what I assume he meant) came from within? Wilshire and the keeper, at best, we haven't developed anyone else at all from the youth team, Rosicky, AOC, Coquelin, Sagna, Jenks, Arshavin.
The only guys you could possibly describe as coming from within the club are Wilshire, keeper, Frimpong and Gibbs. What fantasy land is he living in? One of those is genuinely world class and I think he'd be the player he is no matter where he trained, certainly no evidence that its out great youth training that did it, keeper is half decent, Frimpong is Song Mk 2, as in a bit crap, and Gibbs isn't a footballer.... what a phenomenal team our youth setup has produced.
Also insists we have a very young team, other teams have fielded much younger teams and, is he aware of just how old most of our players are these days?
